What I found cool about the Death Guard was the origin of "The Cups" ritual. While the Space Marines ritual is straight poisons, the original Cups was just some poisonous moonshine which should have blinded the people drinking. That was such a fun part of the novel.

Lucius and Bile are different in their powers and allegiances. Lucius is a champion of Slaanesh and is indeed a body snatcher. However, the Clone Lord is not a follower of Slaanesh and openly despises chaos. He works with them and has a lot of colleagues or are of different followings. He comes back in a clone body if you shoot him. Or you shot one clone and another is right behind you. He's much like Trazyn with different mechanics. So the Dark Eldar wouldn't be as hesitant to deal with him, espcially because they are in the same line of work with the torture and genetics and shit.

When it comes to Lucius. He carries a very specific curse. In theory, he can be killed off permanently. But, in order to do that, you have to kill him without feeling any sort of pride in having killed him. If you do feel any pride whatsoever, he possesses your body and grows back. The faces on his armor are his previous victims.

The blood of the World Eater marines is full of so much volatility and rage that it is a combat stim on steroids, allowing normal humans injecting it to square up with much bigger enemies. Probably not strong enough to take a full Astartes in 1 on one combat but an ork definitely.

Bruva Alfabusa took it to the extreme by making many of them copies of the Pillar Men. It wasn’t until 5th or 6th edition where that lore got retconned and the Custodes became a playable army. Seriously, you should explore some of the memes/concepts that TTS created/popularized. (Eg Vulkan and the Salamanders are Jamaican that give hugs, Magnus is Australian, Big E has a taste for Eldar women, Kitten hates the Tau, Inquisitor Headsmash, Rogal Dorn being a brick in terms of personality). It would be a good way to honor Bruva Alfabusa.

@@livefromtheblacklibrary If you look at the OLD custodes lore (do an image search for rogue trader custodes) you'll eventually find some old black and white artwork of men in bikini bottoms with capes, custodes helmets, and their standard spears standing shirtless and pantsless behind malcador. The fabulous custodes were, in part at least, based on cannon. They even had rogue trader metal miniatures with their standard custodes ponytails sticking out from behind their pointy masks. You could probably do an episode on how they went from weird masked shirtless men with metal ball studded hot-pants to elite god tier auramite clad galactic gigachads.

I remember that combat stims were a thing back in rogue trader. You could use them on your characters. Funnier, in older editions of Drukhari Wych cults, their detachments could take combat stims on the wych units to give them a whole lot of buffs. I really hope they bring that back.

I loved the old short story Lacrymata by Storm Constantine from way back in the Deathwing anthology, and the titular narcotic in it, especially the way it interacted with the main psyker characters. The drug is another apparently used by the Inquisition in interrogations, and the Rogue Trader ship is sent to a garden world (I think) to pick some up. It's a fascinating read, especially if you like the oldhammer style, and an early look at Imperial culture and the way they interacted with the Warp.
