I faced an incident the day before where passengers boarded with two hand luggage items each, and we had to store our luggage far ahead of our seats with the help of the flight attendant because others had already filled our overhead space with their luggage. If everyone had followed the rules, it would have been much easier. A couple of other passengers faced a similar issue, and since my wife only had a book in her bag, we took the book out and kept the bag elsewhere.

Baggage allowance is individual airlines' domain. BCAS is overstepping its authority. BCAS has itself become unruly in the name of security. You just need to look at the behaviour of BCAS Security personnel at airports. They think they are doing a favour to humanity.

@ I was reading the duties of both, and actually the BCAS is the correct organism to regulate ‘The main responsibilities of BCAS include laying down standards and measures with respect to security of civil flights at international and domestic airports in India.’ Baggage is matter of safety, thus their authority in this. BCAS is attached to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, so all good here. What matters is to have the rules in place, as long as there is technical knowledge backing it. Quite honestly, the baggage size is very generous, compared to what you see in some parts of the world

Extra charge for luggage is justified as more weight means more fuel and that means more time... everything is connected and everything is money. Most of the flight delays are caused as a consequence of external factors. If a road is flooded, will you risk driving your vehicle through it or take a different route? Same thing Prices haven't really changed in many years. The reason why we are able to fly more is because we are earning more but the prices are practically the same. Compensation for delays is your job. The airline is not obligated to do anything. Just flew from delhi - food and alcohol is cheaper than in the city

Convenience - one bag per passenger ensures there is place for all bags and that some bags don't need to be removed and put in luggage compartment which causes more delays and thus losses. Safety- overhead bagge compartments have limits and they have to function well in situations of turbulence. If the bags are too heavy they will cause injury during flight - again more delays and losses.

Travelled today and the rule is not being reinforced. A laptop with accessories weighs 3 kg so the 7 kg limit is pointless. There should be a restriction on bag dimensions so a roller + small backpack for each passenger can fit into the overhead cabin luggage bins.

Don't know why BCAS is allowing more baggage to First class and business class passengers, while economy class passengers pay the same fees like CUTE, ASF and PSF as the first class/business class passengers. @ I think that’s why they specify the measurements-because people started carrying excessive luggage, and it has become an issue. If, as you said, people carried small bags within 3 kg, the airports would allow it. I’ve seen officials at Dubai airports using a weighing machine to randomly check the weight of passengers’ bags, even during the COVID days when they were promoting tourism. They’ve also placed boxes at some airports to check baggage size. It’s a practice I’ve seen in a few airports. But like I said this is because people started overdoing it they came out with these and also for their benefits .

When traveling by train the problem starts right at the Railway platform. Filthy, crowded, no clean toilets & no clean spaces for eating .. Everywhere spit, roaches n rats. Not enough places to sit or even stand without being touched or pushed. No elevators & escalators . No easy access to different platforms or even on entering . Large luggage/ elderly people/ people with small kids / physically challenged ppl --- train travel is a nightmare starting from entering the Railway platform to the train

I usually travel 2-3 times domestically and once internationally. Always encountered problem with the cabin bag space because now days there are number of people (not often travellers) prefer to have at least two proper cabin bags (one the actual cabin bag and another backpack with a size of cabin bag). This has always frustrated me. On many occasions I have my stuff underneath the seat or it went to be stored with check-in as there was no space in cabin. As much as I hate this rule, I would still appreciate to restrict such moron travellers. It wasn't long ago when I used to travel with one cabin, laptop bag, and a small camera bag but guess what? There were travellers bringing morestuffs that time. Since the flight travel.lers have increased this has become difficult to manage so I guess this is what needed. Additionally, there are people who buy hell lot of stuff at airport making it further difficult with the space so I guess in the future the rules might be one bag including airport shopping,
