US govt has the least interest in India's business practices and corruption schemes. Let me explain for the benefit of all why SEC is indicting Adani. Adani group is bidding on a major power project in India, and wants to win this project against all the rivals. How do you win a project of such big magnitude or any govt project for that matter. In India "The answer is the infamous BRIBE". So to get this contract Adani needs $265 Million in funds to bribe the Indian govt officials who will facilitate the award to Adani. Apparently the Bribes must have been insisted on US Dollars to safely shelter the ill gotten money reside abroad. Adani has 2 companies in the US, one of which is listed in the US Stock exchange. This US company floated bonds to raise $$ to fund the contract from US investors and others. This fund raised by the US company from US investors, was used to pay off the Bribes. This is a Violation of Law (siphoning off stock/bond holder funds) to use the company assets to pay off a Bribe. That is why the SEC is indicting Adani to protect the US investors from fraud.
