I’m 10 months out transplant surgery. Was out of hospital in 1 week. Now walking two miles a day and feeling better than I had in years. Was on list for 3 years. Thanks so much to the great team at the Cleveland Clinic!!!

Out of the ICU in 2 days? Back to 'normal' in about 3 months? You don't even mention anything about complications. What you describe in this video is a 'perfect' experience with transplantation. What about the huge risk of bleeding/coagulopathy? What about rejection? Or hepatic artery thrombosis? And the need for a second transplant because of these complications? I am an ICU nurse and I see liver transplants every day. We have many liver transplants still in our unit 3 months post transplant because of complications from their liver transplant, including neuropathy, sepsis, ARDS requiring long term ventilation because they can't wean from the vent, and renal failure, requiring dialysis. I'm sorry, but this video paints a very rosy picture for a potential liver recipient, when, in reality, it is very different than this experience for most liver transplant recipients.

It is very curious, the diseases, which result in liver transplant requirement, are treated by simple phlebotomy. Nash, NAFLD, Hepatitis C, type-2 diabetes. "therapeutic phlebotomy to maintain low to normal body iron stores can prevent all known complications of insulin resistance-associated hepatic iron overload" "this pilot study suggests that iron reduction therapy by phlebotomy will be one of the promising therapies for NASH." "It has been approved that regular phlebotomy to remove excess body iron can improve ALT level among chronic hepatitis C cases , aid histological recovery in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases (NAFLD)."

I am a living donor liver transplant (LDLT) donor for my father and we had gone through surgery in September 2012. From 2012 to 2016, I was living very normal and also play outdoor sports (cricket) occasionally. In July 2016, I lift about 35Kg (suitcase) weight and move this from the ground floor to the third floor of the building with stairs. From that time, I feel uncomfortable or little pain in my abdomen (around the area of transplant surgery cut). If I walk about 20 minutes, stay in a sitting or standing position for more than one hour then again I feel pain or uncomforted in my abdomen. I am using an abdominal support belt since that time but the pain is not getting better from 2016. I consult many times with physical therapist/orthopedics, but they say it's nothing but only muscular strain. Does It happen with any liver donor/recipient? What did they find its solution? Any valuable suggestions? Thank you

My dad had liver problem, but is stable as of now,but just for the curiosity i asked the doctor who conducts liver transplant,he said after liver transplant,a man can live up to 15 years more, but at the same time he had to maintain his health,he should avoid alcohol, salt and post transplant every 3 months the liver receipant has to undergo triphase CT scan as well as liver function test,so that before any complications any kind of liver issue are treated with minor surgery or medicines, post transplant the patient's life won't be normal, and if the patient leads a casual life like drinking alcohol, eating oily food, tobacco products after liver transplant, then the patient will not even survive for 2 years,so to live 15 years more, you have to be very careful and every three months he should consult with the doctor
