My favourite Bolton game ever, still feels like it was only last week. Amazing fans too from both sides. Remember the kop clapping off the Bolton players too. Great night!!

A brilliant night out ...nearly 20 years ago. We simply STUFFED Liverpool playing super football. Rick and myself sat with some Liverpool fans, Foxy, Chris Trees and Keith Knowles. Fair play to the scousers, they applauded us off the pitch. Class.
@drewgriffithsfm11 ай бұрын
Eventhough it was only 2-0, Bolton really did stuff us on the night and looked like the Premier League. The applause was fully deserved and even when we played them in the League Cup Final 2 years later, Bolton found a way still to make it a close finish

The best years of my tomboy teens were the Rioch and Todd times. I actually had to turn this off as it made me cry! I was at this match with my beloved late Dad, in the Bolton end of course. Easily the best game of football I have ever been to, we were on fire. Happy days! This season was the best.
@rogerwredford3 жыл бұрын
Best years I can remember being a Wanderers fan... what a cup side! Rioch made us into a team that people enjoyed watching. Far better football than under Allardyce for example. Thought Rioch was treated pretty badly by Arsenal...people forget, it was under his management they signed Bergkamp, and what a servant to their club he was.

Andy Walker: up like a salmon at the far post! 🐟 Best time ever to be a Bolton fan (a million times better than the shite we have to watch in 2019) 😥

Perhaps my greatest night supporting Bolton as a young 10-year-old in that away end. Alas, never possible again now replays like this have been scrapped.

He wasn't that bad. David Lee was just unplayable that night. At the time we were surprised that Liverpool didn't try signing him from us.

The only thing that would make this video even better is if we had Dave Higson's commentary instead of Gerald Sinstadt. "It's thure!!!, Merginleh!!!, Super John Merginleh as they call him at Burnden Park, worra ding-dong-do!!!" R. I. P. Dave 'Ding-Dong-Do' Higson 😂😂😂

Great video, not the same without Higsons commentary though! Merginlay... YESSSSSS! ITS THERE!

As a Burnden regular of that vintage, I feel I can comment... he was very inconsistent, and usually his final ball never lived up to his runs or dribbling. You can see a bit of that in this footage, cross to McGinley aside. I remember he was lightning fast, would beat two or three men, and then sky his shot into Row Z.... very frustrating player. Certainly not in the same class as McGinley, Walker and McAteer from that period.... in my view, at least. This was probably his best game for Wanderers.
@user-fj7xi7tb3i Жыл бұрын
He had 3 chances at it - once for Southampton and then twice for Bolton in the topflight but good games and bad games, so too inconsistent in the Premier League. Agree with Roger Redford.

Well deserved win by Bolton. Still - One of the worst Liverpool sides in the last 50 years..
