What is unacceptable from Liverpool is that we didn't sign any midfield reinforcements these past 2-3 years just to try and get Jude, so to ultimately be lead on for these 2-3 years and not getting him hurts. We needed a CB in 2020, FSG didn't get us one and we panicked in Jan 21 and got Davies and Kabak then in summer 2021 we didn't replace Gini and in summer 2022 anyone with common sense could see we needed a midfielder (and we ended up panicking and getting Arthur). This well run club theme has ran its course for me and I'm worried about the (lack of) possible reinforcements we'll get based on the how the club has ran itself these past 2-3 years.

I’m with you pal but what I think has happened is this: Bellingham wanted the Liverpool move but FSG said to Klopp the budget is “X” amount for the summer. Klopp knows with the unexpected Fabinho and Hendo fall off this season with no legs anymore, Milner, Keita, Ox & Arthur all leaving, Elliott too young and Thiago constantly injured, he has to rebuild the team with 3 new midfield players rather than spend all the money on Bellingham. I would imagine Liverpool have explained this to Bellingham and tried to persuade him to stay at Dortmund for one more season but haven’t guaranteed to him that they will definitely be in for him next summer. Therefore Bellingham has thought nah I ain’t waiting I’ll sign for my second choice which is Real Madrid.

I understand what you're saying but no one can guarantee that it's the lower risk decision. Look at what happened to Dembele at Barca when he was the hottest young prospect alongside Mbappe when he transferred, even Coutinho to Barca, Eden Hazard to Madrid and people thinking he did what Kane would regret not making, Mane to Bayern, and so on. I agree some of them have to do with injuries and other factors but still. Madrid might go in a rebuilding phase soon although they have rebuilded in last two seasons quite a bit already and Jude might have some competition and Madrid crowd isn't easy. Add to that, is the communication gap which might arise. I agree that it's a lower risk decision compared to Liverpool seemingly though coz of the position and the competition Liverpool has now. A better example of a real low risk decision has been taken by Jude's ex teammate, Haaland. He knows his abilties are suited by a De Bruyne led great midfield at City which would not only increase his stats but trophy count in probably the best league in the world, and maybe even the CL something which his generational rival Mbappe couldn't manage till now.

Bizarrely, Sancho has won more in his entire career than Kane.... so even if Jude doesn't get game time, he may 'get' trophies (even if his involvement is low). I also now think of the Bale effect, if Jude goes to Real for a large price, but hopefully he won't have the crowd on his back. So hard between the two. I actually thought United would have been ideal for Jude. Improving side, positive upward trend, would get loads of game time, progressive manager, would be appreciated, then could make the move to Real etc later down the line. I was also worried for Jude that he would come into LFC, 1 or 2 seasons of Klopp and then Klopp moving on. That would have been an absolute killer. Shame Jude didn't come along 4 years ago!

@@_sayan_roy_ I think at Real Madrid he’s going to be slowly integrated into the midfield so that he can adapt to the Real Madrid style of play. Which is probably the best case scenario for him. He can learn from Toni Kroos and Luka Modric and when they leave Real Madrid he should be fully integrated into the midfield, bossing it. Now at Liverpool he’d probably start right away and if he doesn’t pick up form quick he’d probably be criticized and called a flop very quickly. Real Madrid are going to be more patient with him because he’s only 19 and they know he’s a long term project. Look at Vini Jr, it took him a couple years to get to where he is. I’m sure Jude will receive the same treatment as vini.

LFC rarely spend over £40m on a player. It happened 4 times in a 130 year history. EVERY time under FSG. Two of deals (Alisson & VVD) due to the Coutinho transfer and two deals took 2 years to execute (Keita & VVD) more likely to due financing it. I've never known Liverpool to sign big marquee players. I started supporting Liverpool because of Fowler, Gerrard, Carragher, amongst others, and love the idea that academy players can become club legends. I love that Klopp takes on the challenge to include Curtis, Bajcetic, and youth prospects in the squad. Liverpool is a big club that can create success that means more than just spending billions. I don't think I would be a Liverpool supporter if Gerrard left to chase titles with Chelsea or Real Madrid. He chose to stay, because winning trophies for Liverpool meant more to him. That's the quality of player I want the club to invest in.

That’s a huge problem right there and disgraceful recruitment planning. It shows we’re not ran astutely or correctly as a football club behind the scenes like we were a few years ago. Why are they lying to fans and taking all of us for a ride? Losing out on Bellingham is not the issue for me, it’s the principle of it all. Why did they waste two years for someone they had no intentions of signing for the huge figure Dortmund wanted? That decision alone cost us champions league football this season. This is how it’s always gonna be under this ownership and it’s why I want them gone. We simply can’t compete with the others but at least be honest about it Liverpool. People need to realise that there are only a few clubs in world football that can actually attract a player like Jude Bellingham. instead of saying we look "weak" or "stupid", the fact that we an actually attract Jude to Liverpool is something that 99% of clubs in world football cant do and there a small part of that 1 percent that will fork out that kind of money on one player. Think of how many great clubs have no chance of signing the likes of Jude like the Milans,Juve or Barca etc etc etc at the moment. We should be more positive on how we view our club, we need to spend that's a fact and money will be spent this summer but our model in the type of player we buy has bought us so much success, I trust in Klopp and the Ownership to get this summer right. Also I want to add in terms of our Midfielders we have 8 of them going into this season not including Stefan. Klopp went into the season after not getting Tchouameni putting his trust in Naby/Ox to make a contribution but they havent. I would of been comfortable at that start of the season thinking that even if those two played there part bar injuries we would of been in more comfortable situation, those two have contributed in the past when they've been fit but we've seen that that is not true anymore, it was gamble that didn't pay off but if it did our midfield situation doesn't look as bad for this season.

Contract management in a club with a sell to buy model is the absolute priority. When you lose Emre Can, Lazar Markovic, Daniel Sturridge, Alberto Moreno, Nathanial Clyne, Adam Lallana, Gini Wijnaldum, Divock Origi, Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all for free, it doesn't matter how bad/old some of them are, we should have managed the contracts well enough to make at the very least £10m (£110m total). Michael Edwards is viewed by the fans as some kind of god, but he has to accept responsibility because all of this was under his tenure, Ward has simply walked into a shit show and probably thought "see ya later".

I agree we should of topped up the squad alot better in the last 2 seasons. I also agree we show to much loyalty to players who run down contracts and go for free. The delusion you are falling into is that Liverpool can compete with the likes of Real, City, PSG and soon even Newcastle at being able to attract the most expensive players in the world. You are still living in the 80s when trophies were the measure of a club's appeal. Football is all about money not trophies nowadays. Grandeur isn't how big your trophy cabinet is any more it's about spending power and how big your owner's bank balance is in times when players are only interested in how much they can earn for their talent over a short lived career. A prime example is Klopp buying Keita, City buy Haarland and PSG bought Messi. Keita is no better than championship standards but managed to get millions a year at Liverpool. He would never get a look in at richer clubs. Neymar has been rumoured to be a target of Newcastle, not because he's a good fit, but because they have the money.. We'll see if that ever happens. I doubt it, but they think they have the money, Liverpool don't. The sooner you realise that fact the sooner you'll understand why Bellingham, the most sort after player in the world today, won't be at Liverpool next season. Another example, why hasn't Mbappe come to Liverpool when two years ago that's all you heard from fans. It's now rumoured if Utd become Qatari owned they're in the market to sign Mbappe. Liverpool just don't move in the same circles anymore. When Liverpool have the spending power of Real then they'll be on the same level of grandeur as Real. Btw, if you want to talk about trophies, Real have won nearly three times as many European cups/CLs as Liverpool.

Unfortunately it's podcasts like this that forever talked about the slight hope of Bellingham coming to Liverpool that built up too much hope of him coming. Errol is right. LFC have shown themselves to be amateurish. Everybody there has to carry the blame - fsg, klopp , the coaching staff ,the medical staff and last but not least the players. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. I've been complaing about this supposed buy to sell policy for years. It's not been there since coutinho left. If Salah had been sold a while ago there would have been hell on but he has been our only saleable asset. We've overachieved and had our fair share of luck over last few years. Our system has been main reason for our success. We haven't played as good football as say man city but it's weaknesses have been found by opposition and increasingly exploited. We haven't got a good basic level of football quality to fallback in other than passing back to our goalkeeper.
