Without their captain, their midfield is slow and predictable without that "killer pass"-that creativity-that he mentions. “Off the pace in the first half” No, we were crap, the worst 45 mins we have played in 2 years. it was a poor performance in the first half but it wasn't as bad as you think. Brighton are just a veyr very good side and we had just beat them so they came with a point to prove and they did that. After we had a chance to regroup and change things up after half time we went again and did very well
@redmed102 ай бұрын
It goes back to klopp time. I instilled the idea of letting the other team blow themselves out in first half, conserving your oen energy. Wait for gaps to emerge in second half as other team tires and take advantage. That attitude of mind has stayed with the team with or without slot intention or permission. It was more noticeable last season because we conceded so many early and first half goals last season. Not so this season. But we have been lack lustre in most first halves. To the point I almost think we are not worth watching. The amount of bad first touches and passing is horrible yo watch. Results are hard to argue with but we are a terrible watch at the moment. All good for being slot first season. Points are the main thing at the moment.

It’s funny with salah the last 18 months, i feel like he either plays well or he contributes to a goal, like idk how many times last season he’d run the game but the goals would come from elsewhere and he’d go off lowkey fuming at himself or he would be silent for 89 minutes then have a moment of magic for a shot or pass and score. There’s obviously times he does both of those but in general there seems to be a theme, almost like he’s saving his energy for that one moment he can do something and until that he just plays the simple pass

1 Micah's comment I can't agree with: Trossard's usefulness to the team as a starter. He cost the Gunners 3 (2) points away at City- a crucial and historic 3 points by kicking the ball away and getting himself sent off. Missed a pen in CL game they barely won 1-0. Yet Arteta continues to start him for some inexplicable reason.

Arsenal cannot quite confront the great likelihood that they are soon to become the top team in the country. It's making them "hiccup" all over the place. Maybe, Arsenal don't have enough "winners" in the squad. Declan is having trouble shaking off the "underdog" habit of West Ham, and is trembling at growing into the "tough" leader (and winner) that he actually would need to become for Arsenal to become that top and winning team. Saka seems to have become "stiff" after the "playing for England" effect of too "serious" (no longer having insouciant, flamboyant but real and highly effective fun on the football field), too much leaning on strong-headedness rather than on developing even more into a superb front-player who gets "goals!". Still, being a fan--I wish them well though these past weeks have set them back maybe two years or more, in winning Arsenal's first Champions League. Maybe, if Arsenal gave up on chasing the Premiership (which I doubt that they will win ... the transformation into real Premiership winners not having taken place ...) and put everything into having a tremendous all-or-nothing attempt at the Champions League ... ? In this wise they would be able to maintain an upward trajectory in their development into a majorly winning team.

Spurs have gone from the horse that bolted (and pulled up lame) last year to the dark horse this year... If, as Alan says, they can string together six or seven good results, who knows...If they hadn't blown it with Brighton they'd be sitting in 3rd....Interesting tension for Postecoglou is that he is so trophy focussed you'd expect him to really go at it hard to win the League Cup, FA Cup or Europe, but he finds himself in a country where finishing 4th and qualifying for the UCL is more important than winning a trophy. The lesson of Ten Hag must be a hard one for him to process.
