Great that they’ve cleaned this footage up, my old vhs is failing now, I still remember the contexts of this game, BMG were a great team full of stars, Kneib was unbeatable on a one on one and he was massive, to this day I still scream ‘square it to KK’ for the first goal 🤣 I thought there was no way McDermott cud beat the goalie from there, still love seeing that ball nestle into the corner of the net

This was a very good Borussia team. Liverpool were under a lot of pressure if I remember correctly and strong team spirit brought them through. Keegan epitomized this work ethic, his fuel with Vogts was epic. Really lovely team goal from McDermott, power header from Smith and scruffy pen......

Amazing to see this for the first time since 1977. I was 13 years old and an Arsenal fan, but a Liverpool fan for the night whenever they played in Europe. I remember watching the game live on a black and white portable TV with a terrible reception that made it look like the game was played in a serious snow blizzard. Now I know at the age of 60 that it wasn't snowing that night in Milan. Thanks for this upload.

I was just over 4.5 years old when this game was played, I have no memory of it. Next season I was aware to the extend that Liverpool had won something big, but still no memory of seeing the game or understanding of what was up, other than football was played. But 1981, I was probably more aware about anything Liverpool than now :) At least if you compare the availability of videos, games shown on TV to current day. I don´t know when my love for Liverpool began, it´s just always been there, but there is a photo of me, 2-3 years old, wearing amazingly yellow (BRIGHT) t-shirt, and in it reads stylized "Liverpool" in red, below it smaller letters "football club" and a player kicking a ball, below that red stripe through the shirt horizontally, with Liverpool - emblem on it in the left end of the stripe. It´s now in frames as a painting on my wall.

Watched this as a 12 year old kid at home in Liverpool with my Dad. I was born in Anfield and have the Reds in my blood. It's hard to explain how exciting this game was and how proud we felt. It was an amazing time to be a Liverpool fan and still 45 years on it's the same feeling as we head to Paris hopefully for number 7.

An absolute classic from Liverpool's history 🏆 i remember watching this game as a kid in my aunt's house not far from Anfield. For the local fans it was a time when tickets were easier to obtain.
