I was there in the Kop! Used to get to most home games back in the day. That was a world class goal by Glenn Hoddle but normal service was resumed after that. Happy days! It's been great to take my son back to Anfield in the last couple of years.

May 15th 1982. I was there in the Main Stand with my good friend and fellow Liverpool fan Christine Calland. When Hoddle scored in the first half she turned to me and said " Ervine, what are your nerves like now ? " I said not to worry and reminded her of May 4th 1976, when we were a goal down against Wolves at Molineux with just 13 minutes to win the title and then 1-2-3 it was all over and we were all deliriously happy. In this game it was inevitable we would come back and those two goals in the first nine minutes of the second half clinched it, before Ronnie Whelan added the third. The abiding memory for me that day was the way how Graeme Souness, having received the trophy from John Smith ( Liverpool Chairman, but acting in his capacity as president of the Football League) ran a few yards waving the trophy and then turned around and nonchalantly threw it to Ronnie Whelan, who caught it !! Just one of the great Liverpool memories from the 1980s !!
