Thank you for sharing this video of the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, B.C., Canada. I hope that your video will not only raise awareness but touch the hearts of those who live in abundance. I hope that those with abundance will share this abundance. I am dreaming of a compassionate society where everyone's needs are met all of the time. There is enough abundance in Canada to serve everyone's needs even those in these drastic circumstances. Who will begin to organize this massive restructuring of our society? Will it be politicians? Will it be those with abundance? Or will it be those with a heart full of kindness?

Thanks for your words Laara. What I understand is there were a lady donating millions into treatment facility on DTES, the politicians always said working on it to improve DTES but not much better except less garbage and sense of smell on the streets, and local charities daily give food and cloth to these guys. But I am none of the above, by end of May 2023 I still owe CRA $3k plus daily interest.

What good is awareness if you're not actually doing anything? I already know homeless people exist. The real question is : what is EVC doing about it besides using a camera?

@@crshh It takes a lot of courage to use the camera and expose this tragedy and the truth of our Canada's failure and the obnoxious government and people who would rather ignore our 3rd world country status in Vancouver. Awareness is key to change. Don't knock this especially if you are not doing anything yourself to assist with compassion our dying human beings in Vancouver. I don't have the answers but awareness is the beginning of change. Please understand and support this young man with positive comments. Thank you,.

@@crshh What donations? Are you donating? I hope if he is receiving more donations that he is buying himself a new pair of shoes and a coffee. That is the least we can offer him for his expose of our tragic downtown eastside. Only through awareness will change happen. Canada is like a 3rd world country. The government must face this and take millions from all the other not so necessary funding and repair this neglected side of our country. Otherwise, we are a people without soul. Please think about this and leave more positive comments for this brave young man. Thank you.

Did you say to your parents when you were young, "Gee, I am going to be a homeless drug addict when I grow up." You don't know what crushing life events have driven these people here. In the early 2000's the government emptied out Riverview one of the few of B.C.'s treatment centers for mentally ill. Guess where they landed - Downtown Eastside. And on and on. No one chooses this life.. Yes, I know alcoholics and drug addicts must want to stop but these drugs are not purchased in a store like alcohol. Stop the drugs and hospitalize the addicts. That is what could be done.

There are housing options, there’s housing workers who help find you a place to live, there’s subsidies available to reduce rent costs But you have to be able to act civilized You have to be able to live without drugs If you’re in active addiction there aren’t a lot of options until you’re willing to get help I used to live on the street just like these people I’ve seen lots of normal people turn completely feral from drugs Meth and fentanyl will make anyone act like a lunatic N when they get clean they return to normalcy Most of the people you see who look like they need a mental asylum just need to get clean Sure there are some genuinely mentally ill, but they’re a minority compared to the ones just suffering from symptoms of addiction

Canada is becoming severely overpopulated. It was already one of the world's most expensive places to live because of its harsh climate and rugged geography. The population is larger than that which can sustain itself economically and an increasing percentage will become unemployed and homeless. Even the "successful" people are finding it more and more difficult to feed themselves and keep a roof over their heads.

@@ExploreVancouverCanada Even before Canada's economy started to decline, the way we live was becoming unsustainable, with urban sprawl into the countryside and cars being the only way to get around. It was briefly affordable during the post-WWII boom and people made the mistake of falling in love with it and wanting it to be the new norm. Mark my words, in 50 years most of the city suburbs will become ghettos with boarded up windows, weeds and garbage on the lawns and streets in disrepair.

@@mosquitobight Sooner than 50 years! Try 2040 - 2050 if it even lasts that long into the great reset. Robotics will takeover many jobs soon enough even as AI becomes apart of medical and educational programs. Though their tactic at this point will be universal basic income and that will just keep you alive enough. I looked at single rooms in Canada and almost felt sick from their prices. One room in Vancouver was asking 1500.00 lol. Or many asking 500 weekly.
