Daryl is so stinking cute! He would be a good candidate for 4H! Kora will be much better off in waiting to be a mom. Large breeds do need time to fully mature for the health of mother and pups. It’s always better to wait until the dogs second heat cycle to breed. Most large boned dogs don’t usually have their first heat until after a year old because all energy is going to putting on dense bone and muscle. This is best for the dogs health. Just don’t wait too long (over 4 years) before first breeding as she can develop pyometra.

Kevin & Rachel...I think you're making the right choice to wait for Kora to have babies. Besides, with all the new kids, both dogs are needed to protect the herd. I never had to use those pills to know if they work but a lot of other people will probably let you know if they work. I hope someone adopts Darryl because he needs a lot of love and closeness. I wonder who he sleeps with at night. I love all your well-cared for animals. God Bless you all !! 😊😊

I had a very knowledgeable breeder friend who used the pill for his females during show season with absolutely no complications. Once the girls had completed the show circuit and been proven winners, they would then be bred. Having the extra time before breeding is very important to large breeds as they have such a large bone structure to grow. They need time for their own bodies first if they are going to raise strong boned and healthy pups free of defects.

We had gotten a Cairn Terrier from a family that had gotten her to have puppies. They said they could never tell when her heat cycle was. Well she was not at our house long before our dog who was intact knew. We had to get a med like that and it took care of the problem and then we had her fixed as we did not want puppies. Your med will work fine. That buckling is really cute. If I had a place I would come get him.

Leeskee wasn’t being lazy, he wanted belly rubs. 😁. What you’re thinking of is hip dysplasia. She could also have a pulled muscle. The gum is Juicyfruit. It used to be my favorite as a kid.
@teresamariner4238 Жыл бұрын
My step son had terrible growth pains in his legs. I gave him a multimineral supplement that helped. Our younger German Shepard dog had hip dysplasia but our doctor said we could counter it with exercise, building up his muscles, and a healthy diet, so that's what we did. He was extremely active, climbing, jumping, and running. He died of old age in his sleep, laid down in his favor spot on the sun warned patio, went to sleep, and never woke up. Our other Shepard husky, malamute mix developed cancer so we had to have him put down. Sad. Miss them both.

I volunteered with the local humane society when I was in HS. There were some interesting combinations, ther was once a miniature schnauzer and Irish wolf hound mix that got adopted. He had the fur and coloring of the schnauzer and size of the wolf hound. There was also a litter of basset hound shepard husky mixes. So yeah, doesn't matter on the size of dog breed when it comes to females in heat, they don't really care.

I think that having Kora wait until she is at least 2 is the best idea, big dogs are’t generally considered to be full grown until at least 2 years old. She doesn’t need the added stress of creating puppies and them needing nutrients from her. My friend has a Cane Corso…totally different type of dog but they get big and her vet had them reduce his protein intake (I think) because he was getting too big too fast. They also started giving him joint supplements. I would love to see Kora and Leeski’s pups but I’d rather wait a year. Darryl is growing fast. Love all of your animals!

I have bread dogs the closer to two and a half you can get the better, fewer complications, and less likely to be stressful and traumatic for a first-time mom. every time one of our dogs got bred by accident it was stressful and had complications. Best to wait to tell full maturity in any animal. Two years is a sweet spot for many animals.

@@dashshuman620 it's actually all breeds I have bread both, smaller Italian greyhounds for longer. Both need two years all vet's say it, all farmers, it's simple. Nutrition can only curve it so much. Age is vital.

Oh my goodness... I thought Cora had puppies due to the pictures for this vlog. I know you didn't want her to have a litter until she's two years old. I know she and Leeski (Not sure I spelled that correctly) will have a very good looking litter one day.😍
