I feel like there’s a lot more layers to Maria’s character in this animation than people realize. Maria being this streamer girl, who seems to be incredibly self absorbed with her online fame, most likely implies that she didn’t have much of a good relationship with Shadow. She literally pushes him to the side to reveal the Ultimate Life Form prototype, and we can see Shadow trying to escape the more she reveals personal information about Gerald’s experiments. It’s humorous to think what he would be like as a character had this been his actual background.

Not gonna lie, I'm so mad at myself for not immediately catching on to how this was gonna end when I streamed this live. It was dead obvious how this would end, but I was just so caught up with Maria's whole E-Girl persona with her whole stereotypical teen girl talk that it COMPLETELY slipped my mind. Well, that and I thought it would be too predictable of a punchline. Nice animation, BTW. And Maria's actress killed her performance.

Crash course on Shadow for new Sonic fans: - Shadow was bioengineered by Eggman's grandfather Gerald with Black Doom's DNA in the Space Colony ARK. - Shadow might as well have been siblings with Maria, Gerald's granddaughter and Eggman's cousin. - Gerald created the Eclipse Cannon on the ARK to use the 7 Chaos Emeralds' power to kill Black Doom and destroy the Black Comet. - GUN (the military) invaded the ARK and killed a bunch of people including Maria. - As Maria was dying, she launched the distraught, onlooking Shadow in an escape pod. - Somehow and at some point, Gerald found Shadow (who I guess was unconscious) and (either before, during, or after that) learned of Maria's death, went insane, and programmed Shadow to use the 7 Chaos Emeralds to turn the ARK into a doomsday meteor in order to kill *all* of humanity. - GUN captured and eventually executed Gerald. GUN also (either before, during, or after that) captured Shadow (who I guess was still unconscious) and stored him on Prison Island. - Fifty years pass. - _Sonic Adventure 2_ takes place. Eggman finds out about Shadow, breaks into Prison Island, and frees Shadow. Shadow, Eggman, and later Rouge team up to collect the 7 Chaos Emeralds. Shadow secretly wants to kill everyone. Eggman openly wants the Eclipse Cannon for world domination. Rouge is secretly a double agent for GUN. Ultimately, Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles arrive on the ARK (with a re-reassembled Master Emerald) and confront Shadow, Eggman, and Rouge. (By the way, Tails has made a fake Chaos Emerald, with which Sonic successfully performs Chaos Control.) Eggman unwittingly activates the ARK's "doomsday meteor" programming and teams up with everyone else, including Shadow (because Amy snapped Shadow out of his programming), to save the Earth. The Master Emerald stops the 7 (real) Chaos Emeralds. Super Sonic and Super Shadow teleport the ARK out of its collision course and back into orbit. Sonic makes it back to the ARK, but Shadow runs out of stamina and plummets to Earth's surface (again). Shadow is presumed dead. - Eggman finds Shadow, who I guess Chaos Controlled and bypassed a fiery re-entry. Eggman and/or Metal Sonic (who mutinies against Eggman) oversee the cloning of Shadow to create Shadow Androids, which are present in _Sonic Heroes_ and the game _Shadow the Hedgehog._ - _Sonic Heroes_ takes place. Shadow (well, *a* Shadow) is found by Rouge, and Omega reawakens from his slumber after being put there by Eggman and/or Metal Sonic. Team Dark (the three of them) team up to find Eggman. Shadow (well, *this* Shadow) has no memory, Rouge wants Eggman's treasure (she fails, lol), and Omega wants to avenge himself against Eggman. Oh, and Team Sonic (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles) meet Team Dark and find that Shadow is back from the dead. The six of them (and Amy and five or six other characters) free Eggman and defeat Metal Overlord (i.e., superpowered Metal Sonic). Ultimately, Shadow (well, *this* Shadow) regains *some* of the dead Shadow's memories, but not nearly all of them. So, is this Shadow a clone? Or is he the original Shadow, but resurrected? - _Shadow the Hedgehog_ takes place. Black Doom and his seemingly mindless spawns, the Black Arms, invade Earth. Black Doom (via Doom's Eye) tells Shadow to fulfill a promise to deliver Black Doom the 7 Chaos Emeralds. Six or seven levels later, Shadow does so, but he, Rouge, Amy, Team Sonic, and Eggman learn that Black Doom intends to use Earthlings (even non-human Earthlings) as a food/energy source for the Black Arms. Shadow regains most or all of his memories, defeats Black Doom, and fires the Eclipse Cannon at the Black Comet, thus destroying it. Oh, is Shadow a clone? Well, no. Survive for about nine minutes without losing a life in the final boss of this game, and Eggman tells Shadow that Shadow is not a clone. - _Sonic 06_ takes/took/will take place in Soleanna. There's a lot of time travel. Solaris (whose two halves are Mephiles and Iblis) is/was able to control time. Iblis is/was the reason Crisis City (Soleanna, but centuries later) is/was/will be on fire. Shadow is/was able to time travel via Chaos Control (but maybe not by himself). Ultimately, Sonic and Princess Elise of Soleanna end up going back in time and killing Solaris, thus retconning most of this game's plot. By the way, page 237 of the Sonic Encyclo-speed-ia says that Crisis City "defies being erased from time and burns on." - _Sonic Forces_ takes place. Shadow kickstarts the villain Infinite's descent into, well, villainy. About a month later, Infinite is infused with the Phantom Ruby's power and makes non-Shadow-Android clones of Shadow and of other characters. Eggman and Infinite defeat Modern Sonic. Eggman rules the world for six months, but Modern Sonic, Classic Sonic, the Avatar, Shadow, and so many other characters defeat Eggman and Infinite. (Where is Infinite now?) - Shadow *does* appear in other games and in _Sonic Prime,_ but let me skip those. - At many points in the (Modern) timeline, _Sonic Generations_ and _Shadow Generations_ take/took/will take place.
