a tip from a fellow gal who lives alone: freeze ur bagel/bread to keep it longer! they wont go stale if u freeze them right away vs leaving them on the counter/in the fridge.

My mom does similar, she’s but a lot and store in in the freezer then bake them for a bit to heat them up, they come out soft and doughy as if they were just made from scratch

i saw a lot of ppl mentioning freezing your bread to keep it longer and I just want to add that if you want to store your bread in the freezer, make sure you actually spray a bit of water on the bread before you heat it up again in the oven because it gives the bread a bit more moisture and it helps restore bread back to its fresh stage! I've been making my own bread for 3 yrs now and I've been storing my bread this way :))))

my fridge’s temp is set a lil higher than normal which helps preserve my food a bit longer! I hope that helps

Live alone here too. Best way to preserve greens is take itoutyhe bag it came in. The plastic bag traps the gas greens let off and get slimy. Best way to keep greens good for 2 weeks istoputa cloth or paper towel on the bottom of a food container and one on top of the greens. Change the wet cloths every few days.

cream cheese, butter, etc. defs last more than 4 days!! And I'll put bread in the fridge to keep it fresh. When it comes to protein, I'll freeze it until I want to use it. That way it lasts way longer than the expiry date

Girl freeze your bagels! I leave mine in the bag and just take one out the night before and put it in a bag or container to let it thaw over night!

in the uk everything goes in the fridge, bread eggs, everything. With a meat package you eat what you want and then freeze the rest and defrost when you want to eat again

I had the same problem with produce and bread. Where everything either needs to be eaten in a week or goes bad, but turning my fridge settings on super cold keeps my stuff edible for a good while longer.

I think things last a little longer in the fridge like bread and you can probably go a day or two over the expiration date because those are the days they did can guarantee it being fresh it just a recommendation.

You should freeze your bread for sure it’s super normal to do so also all veg like spinach broccoli etc can be frozen I woul go container shopping and always remember things like gousto and hello fresh. That’s what’s saved my like with wasting grocery’s

If your bagels are going bad, make sure you check for the ones at the back, they’re usually fresher so you can get a little longer out of them. You can freeze etc, but I don’t like bread once it’s been cold. But definitely look into the bread in the back (or it’s colour stamp) it represents the day it was baked
