Mai crying over being 20 is probably one of the realest things I've seen. I just turned 19 and I feel like I wasted my teen years because i had to deal with so much family problems. Things will get better, and i hope you know how many people love you. Also, I would love to see a video on ur KZbin editing, equipment etc etc

I felt something similar upon turning 20, although it wasn't so much the age itself and more that I wasn't where I wanted to be (also due to family problems!!!! So fun). The issue is that on a societal scale, ageism is pretty prevalent- and this doesn't only affect those of us in our senior years. We are told that there is an expiration date to fun, to being able to act a certain way, with archetypes of age dictating how we should form our own behavior at x age. Conversely, we are also expected to have achieved x, y and z by a young age in order to be seen as successful or worthwhile (we as a society place way too much stock on young prodigies despite older members of society having done so much more, and the internet proliferates it to the point that we feel the need to compare ourselves to these outliers) But really, you haven't "wasted" your time to do x or y fun thing, because you can do it at ANY age. Imagine how boring the rest of our lives would be if we had to stop doing the things we like just because we've past some arbitrary deadline for it. We're all still so young (hell, our brain isn't even finished developing until age 25); we've barely lived life, so it makes no sense to expect ourselves to have accomplished so much

I just turned 25 a couple months ago and it's been up and down, but i know things get better even when i'm at my very lowest. I always feel like i have wasted so much of my youth on depression and just getting nowhere with my life(no education nor a career, working on it though). I'm far from being at the "better" place but i certainly am better than just a year ago! I just want you to know that if you still aren't getting much better even years from now, that's also okay and very normal. But it does always get better, even when it feels like it won't, that's the important part to remember, NEVER quit trying. Good things take time(sometimes a long time). Another thing that really helps me get through those "wasting time" thoughts is seeing old people. It sounds weird - but whenever i see old people i realize i have soooooooo MANY years left. You're 19 and the life expectancy is 70-80 years! We have like 50-60 good years left of our lives to do and see so much stuff. So please don't worry about wasting your time and instead take your time to enjoy your life to the fullest.
