WOW! a memory 'punch' for me...watching Ivar use the crow bar LOL....I had completely forgotten that when I was a small child (from the ages of 6-10 yo) my father was ALWAYS working on our house. It is a house built in the late 1700s in upper NY state, USA. & when we asked what we could do to help, he would give us all a crowbar & we would pull nails. We happily pulled many hand made nails, just to be able to spend time with our father. he often worked a graveyard shift & then was always busy working on our house/farm. So if we wanted to see him, we had to do what he was doing. I remember loving the screechy sound the old nails would make as they pulled their way out & it was a satisfying feeling when they finally popped free. Then we had to hammer them straight to use again! Good memories! You are so lucky to have your son WITH you, and be able to spend time with him - the gift of time is the most precious. If I could have had more hours with my dad as a kid I would have loved that. He is a great father, but didn't always have the patience to let us help much - it was rare treat!

Ivar seems to be like a dream child who never gets bored or whines and always find out some creative things to do. Maybe that is a result of not using phones, computers or PlayStation😂. He is living kind of childhood what we lived in 80`s in nordics and I guess else where too.

I think he is a happy natured child who would be a such a pleasure to be around. But I wouldn’t say that this was always so because he is human just like the rest of us. But I think too his parents take the time to Bentley correct him. These are peaceful videos to watch for sure.

Projects are getting finished one at a time, since I started watching . The cellar, windows, Tova's garden, the unique chicken wagon. I know you might think it doesn't appear to be much, but to us watching...it's a celebration each time. The things you have learned and achieved, you should be proud. My favorite thing, is watching the animals move around and the land become richer.❤

Once again, such a beautiful video of your lives 'off the grid'....and your amazing ability to build the chicken tractor, the smoke house and best of all the framing of the new window with more to come! How wonderful to see Ivor enjoying the warm summer days...especially when in the cool pond with his mommy and daddy. All your hard work is so evident and beautiful. Tova, the Sheep Whisperer is the best thing I've seen in a long time. ❤ I think the berry dush and flower idea on the slope is a great idea. Will stop erosion. Just place some well broken down compost and manure down when you plant them.

I think I’ve mentioned this before. My son, Graham, is 36. He is the doppelgänger to Ivar. They have looked alike since birth. I am of Norwegian/German descent. His father is German/Scottish. How fun. I wish I could upload a picture of Graham at 4 years. Best!❤ The original Franklin BBQ is in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He moved to Austin, Texas,part-time and opened his second store there. My large family are there. They would love to host you!! 👍🏽I would too. I live on the Western Slope, an area full of peach orchards and wineries and farms.

The window itself is not a structural element of the house. If you put a lot of force on the windows, they will warp. Windows just need to be held in place within the outer frame, sill, and the wooden finishing boards. Wooden windows need to be fastened securely at the bottom to keep them down tightly on the sill so they don't leak. On the sides you could use wood shim stock to shim the windows to the outer frame. Then attach the window to the outer frame at the locations of the shims with finish nails or screws so that the nail/screw holds the shim in place. In America you buy shim stock in bundles at the lumber store. I hope this is helpful, best of luck!

You could try planting "hedera helix" on that slope (unless you want berry bushes or other flowers). Evergreen creeper, good ground-cover, not picky about soil type, can also be found in forest (although I don't know the Swedish flora). It grows and spreads relatively quickly, and holds the soil well in case of rain, so it does not run off. It's a real pleasure to see the cabin progress...

I was so excited to see that beautiful window installed and how you have developed framing that will accommodate shifting of the structure. Well, thank You ❤ this was nice! Seeing all the progress you have made specially during the two previous years! Such is life! Sometimes you are stuck in your head and nothing gets resolved. And then there are times that you just go on and all the projects get to become true! This was a beautiful video and it really showed all the things you've accomplished: the cellar, the sauna, moving the sheep, moving the chickens, the house, the garden and so on!! 😊😊😊 I'm so happy for you! The drainage ditch with stones is the solution that we used when we saw how the water was pooling close to the house. My partner being a belt and braces kind of guy did it all around the house!! It's been 4 years now and it works great.

I it is so interesting that our windows have the muttons on the inside and the storm windows (plain glass without wooden slats) on the outside to keep the mutton from rotting in the weather. Your window looks so good! The house is really starting to come together! ❤️ You have so many projects near completion! Hard workers.
