Greeting from Vancouver Island! I am in my 60s and bought a small one bedroom condo about 600 sq feet. I LOVE it! Double-duty furniture is important. I have 3 hassocks or foot stools, all of which open for storage and also doubles for seating. I omitted a couch entirely and went with a very comfy easy chair because I realized most of the time it would be just me. There is other seating if someone comes over. I also opted for a single bed (I am a small person) and that gained me a LOT of extra room in my bedroom. Noise doesn't bother me...I just take my hearing aids out!!🤣🤣🤣

What a thoughtfully designed studio apt by the architects- so many windows and the full partition wall to divide kitchen & bed - very nice!

Hey Olin. Nice video! I don't live in Vancouver but I live in a slightly smaller studio in Toronto. One pro tip that I came across is: Try to find a locker/storage room in your building or somewhere close to where you live. I put all of my seasonal stuff in the locker (skiing equipment, winter jacket, boots...etc). I mean if your locker is big enough, you might also wanna put your winter tires in there lol. The benefits of a locker are you can maximize your living space, stack everything on top of each other in containers and cheaper per sqft. For example in my building if your condo doesn't come with a locker, you can usually find someone list out theirs in the condo app. They are usually about $50 - $70 per month, but the size is about my bathroom.

Hello i'm new here and i want to say thank you for this vlog. It is very relaxing and also helpful to watch your vlog. I live in 699 sqf with 3 Kids and my Husband. I know the struggle with cooking, little spaces and fresh air.😂 Greetings from Germany and thank you for sharing this with us.

Gotta go vertical; high cupboards w doors to hide stuff. See if u can stack shelves on top each other but reinforce against wall. Like right next to your microwave, u can put a floor to ceiling cupboard. Use drapes as partitions. Put small pots of vinegar around the room to absorb smells. It really works. When u cook, c if u can have a portable fan to blow air towards an open window too….hell, at least u have a wall to separate bedroom area. I have a studio too n I don’t have that!

Hello Olin, Advantages and disadvantages of living in a small space... Great subject! You probably prefer low beds. But if you decided to raise it, you could make additional storage underneath?... "Less is more" is also my adage...😁👍 Arnaud
@olinbrix
@olinbrix 4 ай бұрын
Hey ya I was thinking about that too! Honestly if I could just raise my bed like an inch or two I could fit a lot more under it lol. Time will tell what I should do lol.

Good.👍 You have got a lot of storage that you can close at Ikea or elsewhere... Under the bed, enemy number 1 is dust. As you say you will see with time... Byebye, Arnaud🖐

Hey.. the air fryer thing… do you have a full size oven? You can move the racks to the bottom and store your air fryer in your oven. 😊
@olinbrix

@@jamesma8209 I have a toaster oven that has an air fryer function, but I’m skeptical if it works as well as the stand alone air fryers

Suggestion : A coffee table that pulls up to a dining table is a great addition to a small place. We are thinking of that.

I'm moving cross-country and will have a pet. I'm contemplating getting a studio or finding roommates. I'm sure both have pros and cons. I would love a small space with my thibgs but i would really miss amenities like washer and dryer or bigger separate kitchen area
@olinbrix
@olinbrix 4 ай бұрын
Hey ya pros and cons for both for sure, if you go with a studio I hope you get lucky and find one with a washer and dryer! the kitchen size it is what it is lol but having your own space can make up for it. Best of luck on your journey!

This size is bigger than most 1 or 2BRs in our country. The studios usually sized 18-25sqm / 190-279 sq.ft.

Hmm um .. try searching up small space furniture and setup … also try to avoid ikea .. the furniture sometimes makes it very “ordinary” .. there are ways to maximize the small space and ur actually living in a great space …

And if you wanted to buy an apartment like this, it'll cost you $750K-$1M CAD. Canadians who aren't on the property ladder, will basically be paying rent for all their lives - unless they have a top job bringing in $200K+ per year. I love Canada but this aspect is very sad.

From your last vid I thought the purple eye/sleep mask was a bra! Now I can clearly see it is not a bra! In the last vid a lotta ppl asked if you had a girlfriend- you said your friends are camera shy - and I’m thinking - you forgot to hide the bra! 😮

I am so absolutely sick and tired of hearing the term "so fully aware these are first world problems" They are 'our' problems be it as they may ... we have to deal with them ... can't we stop comparing? We all know how fortunate we are to be born here without the incredible issues others have to deal with. Just sayin ... 💞
