Love the chipped laminate on the cheap particle board cabinet in the $7700 half bath off the kitchen. They made these renovations look high end but they cut corners where they thought people might not notice. I was thinking the kitchen cabinets also looked like cheap boxes when you open them but with fancy styled doors but it was hard to tell from the video. I've seen this in other places where the fixtures look elegant but then you touch them and they feel cheap and flimsy to the touch.

We got the $16. Old fashioned Westinghouse lights for our bathroom because of no fan and window doesn't vent enough. Ceramic base with outlet even! I like them.. Look retro. Also googled brass and chrome to fined a simple shower head. Has a lever that makes middle retract up and down to change spray intensity. Also $15. Bith won't rust, chip, peel. Fed up with that! And the bad ones cost hundreds. I buy mostly used in furniture. Real wood!

Powder room is an old fashioned term to describe women's bathrooms . It was a polite way of saying " I'm going to use the bathroom ". You would say "I'm going to powder my nose ,or use the powder room " It means reapply face powder. People are not so bothered these days and few women use face powder. I love your videos , they are strangely compelling.and such fun. We in the UK are used to living in tiny spaces . I've lived in tiny flats and rooms and now own an entire terrace ( row) house . Our houses are very small compared to the US though. I'm loving the space saving gadgets as all my appliances have to be small.

A small guest toilet is called a powder room because up to the 70s or earlier women would say I have to powder my nose instead of telling the people she was visiting or the other guests that she needed to use the toilet. Oh and concealer in those days was in powder form instead of liquid like it is today so it is not referring to a drug habit also that saying about certain drug habits started in the 70s which probably is why women stoped with the powdering of the nose business but the powder room is still used today.

Yeah the second actually put some molding on the windows. The lack of which is just a cheapest. The stark white paint on everything in both houses, made the best features of both places blend in. Lack of thought. Nice homes though. Not bad rent when you consider the taxes and insurance the owner has to pay

*2:18 To answer your question, “Why do they call these Powder Rooms?” There are actually two theories... #1. - Originating in the 18th Century, ladies would retire to a small room to freshen up their *POWDERS and perfumes. (Those big White Wigs!) And while there were in there, they also could use the Chamber Pots! #2. - In the 1920’s it was considered vulgar for women to go to a “Bathroom” to preform any “normal bathroom functions” (🚽💦 💩) so ladies/women would go to the Powder Room to Powder their noses. Back then and still today girls/ladies/women 97.6% of the time go to the Powder Rooms/Bathroom in pairs... Especially, while out in public. ie. Bars & Restaurants.

Back in the 90s as a teenager when I used to babysit for the rich I stepped into an amazing townhouse near Houston around 1st Avenue. You walked into what was a garage but there was a HUGE swing for the kids. The rooftop had astroturf and the other half was Glass you can walk on and see through the other floors. The kids drove me nuts in this house but no regrets.

What part of NYC is this building in? I’m guessing Brooklyn, since we are looking across at the Empire State Building. Lovely building. First unit duplex has some nice space and all of the fixings. The triplex downstairs looks even more luxurious. Love the downstairs garden. Love the huge setback and garden of the second building.still relatively affordable, considering all the perks on the property. Nicer kitchen. The lighting is nicer in the second building.

While I normally balk when rent is $6K/month-plus, these properties are well worth it, IMHO. All have thoughtful design and very high-end finishes. This must be the same Landlord/Builder's properties that we have seen previously in another location when we were first introduced to Sammy. Or are we in "summer rerun" period? LOL! Kudos to these people who are giving value for the money paid! I do love all three but would be very content with the first property shown.

NYC prices are ridiculous, but for $6,000, these two apartments offer quite a lot, and it's all brand-new. Divided 3 ways, the two smaller bedrooms would pay less than $2,000 each, making them almost affordable. Almost. The huge rec room is more useful than the rooftop deck, so I like the second one better.

They are nice apartments but I would not want to have the door to the outside space in my bedroom. You’d end up with inconsiderate roommates that want to go in and out all the time, maybe even trying to tiptoe through and out the door. I feel that it’s a design flaw, although I realize that they are trying to put as many bedrooms as possible in these apartments. I don’t want anyone else in my room if I’m not home either.
