@@j.kristineemmons no it doesn't SF is still a good 20 percent cheaper than NYC. NYC a 300 Sqft apartment without a w/d or central ac, runs 3000$ anywhere in downtown. 5250 is the average price for a one bedroom right now in Manhattan (look this up). He is renting a two bedroom pent house at that price. Thats kind of a deal.

Like everyone else I like the last apartment Charles just rented out. Compared to the $5k places the last one rocked it. Nice layout, beautiful floors, kinda of cozy looking especially in the winter. Yes older appliances but decent sized kitchen as well Plus the price was good for NY. Great job Charles and Cash, nicely done.

Why? They are paying mortgage payments property taxes and building maintenance and repairs as well as renovations. Plus, owning rental property is a for-profit business, and the landlord deserves to make a reasonable return on investment. Nobody is forcing the people renting the units to live there.

Those wood water tanks are still being made and used. As for the water pressure it comes from the wood tank, where the lower floors have greater pressure than the apt. right under the tank. You get 1 pound of pressure for every 2.31 feet of elevation, so that apt. right under the tank is lucky to have even 10 pounds of pressure.

IHMO: 1) First apartment: the terrace/rooftop area being shared is a no-no regarding safety and privacy; 2) 2nd aparment: DEFINITELY cross-contamination of '1/3' bathroom (only a toilet piece) by the kitchen--especially where the refridgerator is not only next to this bathroom, but OPENS UP to that particular bathroom! 3) 3rd one: nicer, kitchen appliances and cabinetry placed together.

Hey, if you're using that little "half bath with no sink" for your guests, you could always go old school and add a little chest or table with a pitcher full of water and a big matching bowl for your guests to wash their hands. Hang a couple of towels or put out a stack of decorative paper hand towels, a liquid soap dispenser, and you're in business! Hey, can you tell I've been around the block a few times? That's how they did it in the old days. Tell your guests they should be thankful they're not having to get a drink of water from a dipper in a bucket that's sitting in a dry sink in the kitchen. That's how my mom was raised. Hey, it could be a new novel trend! LOL

Mmph! At $5200/month the penthouse unit is a very nice space. It would have been an exceptional bargain were it a two bedroom rather than a one bedroom. The outdoor space, skylights, and the large rooms save it. I loved the bathroom, skylights, and kitchen. However, the kitchen/living room French doors, while nice, all I could think about was the effort to keep the panes clean and spotless. The second featured two-bedroom unit at $5250/month is nice and the best value (IMHO) but not enough natural light for me and the views are... well... I actually liked the 3rd featured one-bedroom at $3850/month the best. That bay window got me! Those rooms are quite large, and it had the best kitchen IMHO. Overall, very nice showings this morning! I loved the character in all of them and of course those wood floors!!! I know... I know... it doesn't take much to get me excited...

The second place has tons of square footage and some classic features, though it needs some refinement. Still a better deal per person. It's loads cheaper in the dying small towns of the Great Plains that saw their heyday in the early 1900s. If you can work online and they have good wifi, we can get you a sweet deal. :) But have you considered the cost of buying and in a couple years moving to another part of the US for your job as so many do, going up the career ladder? Dynamic, ambitious workers in the US move often. 11.7 times is the average number of moves in a lifetime here. I'm up to 12, not counting college, and planning 13 when the time is right. Like stocks, if you are forced to sell when the market is down, you lose.
