My wife and I did our van life adventure all over the U.S in 2021 and we finally realized her longtime dream of traveling most of the states. Unfortunately, she passed a couple of months ago but she lived to the fullest and during our adventures we experienced so much and lived a thousand lives through our travels..It's refreshing to watch your videos, makes me relive my time with Hannah again and our adventures/ misadventures haha Enjoy guys! Much love and good luck to you 💛

What a gift to have spent that kind of life with your Hannah during her last days! Not many can say they have had that kind of experience, maybe across an entire lifetime. I hope you are still holding it as precious and knowing that if your life together had to end, as most do one way or another, it couldn't have been better. Mush love, Lynn

I did van life for 4 years. Sickness, loneliness, being cold, and feeling detached due to no routines and constantly moving is such a huge part of it and it's so good people showcase it more now. When I started in 2019 it felt like most people were overly positive about it without sharing the negatives. Its like everything in life not only good or only bad. Amazing experiences and meeting amazing people, better than you can even imagine before you start but there are for sure times all I wanted to do was travel back to the apartment I got rid of and get a good night sleep in the warmth & a hot shower. Great video showing the ups and downs and how incredible vanlife can be. Without those negatives it wouldn't be as good.

I remember going through this exact rollercoaster of emotions while I was backpacking solo for about a year in my early 20s... Africa, The Middle East, Asia, Europe, America... I got good and lost on so many levels Never really sure where I was going, getting stuck in places, doing whatever to get to the next place, which was usually decided on a whim when I had enough money scratched together for transport, food, and a few weeks shelter. Looking back, it feels like a fever dream of aimlessly wandering the world with a simple mantra of: "Take it all in but keep moving" You're going to be alright.

@WanderingWeirdly
@WanderingWeirdly Жыл бұрын
@@taylorcassell I do. Are there things that I wish had gone differently? Sure. Were there moments I wanted to just give up and go home? Definitely. All that said, if I didn't go through those struggles, I wouldn't be the person I am today. Those experiences opened my mind and my heart. Crossing the gap between familiar comfort and the unknown, taught me the antifragility of human spirit. That it's not about reaching the top of the mountain, but rather proving to yourself that you are the type of person who can reach the top of the mountain. There will always be more mountains. Comparing the good and bad sides of different cultures and societies showed me that people are people, and tribalism is no longer serving humanity. We have way more in common than we think. It turned my empathy bucket into an empathy well.

Not just clickbait, trends, “consistency” for the sake of consistency - posting daily and weekly content just to get views and make money, but instead used as an outlet for beautiful, quality filmmaking, cinematography, editing, and incredible storytelling all done with intention, passion and authenticity.

Natalie, you should be proud. Your addition to the compendium of human experience is one of incredible value. To embrace the absurd is one of the most difficult things one can do and you’re teaching me how. Your ability to let in all the overwhelming and seemingly negative emotions, not avoiding them but swimming in them, is a lesson to all of us and will give you the tools, not to overcome them, but to use them to experience all the euphoric and positive ones. I now sit grappling with the knowledge that I have to live this vicariously through you, and that frightens me a little bit, but you can be sure that you and your work is an incredibly valued medium through which I can do so. Each of your films feels like a reset, a switch that goes off in my head putting things into perspective. You put a lot of emphasis on the little things, so you should know that from my perspective, you’re work is one of those “little things” that makes me stop, look around me, and remember how ridiculous it is that I am alive. Also… the music.

Okay the symbolism and meaning in her films is awesome. She is also seriously just so good at curating these shots with impressionistic uses of natural lighting (the van's yellow lights, the yellow light of the sun, the darkness of night and rain, etc.) and playing just the right music with these shots to give you this sense of wonderment, and self-discovery, and upbeat-ness but also weird tinges of sadness and the unknown. Honestly, watching her Borderless series scratches an itch I didn't know I had all along: a need for freedom and self-discovery, with all the right trials and hardships that help me grow mixed in. Thanks Natalie. Hope you're safe and happy.

I found this channel quite recently, and it is just absolutely insane... The storyline, the cinematography, the various camera angles, the incredible color grading, using songs even though they are copyright to improve the viewer experience, the editing style- The pacing of the video is also unmatched with the dramatic pauses in the voiceovers, the montages- its practically perfect, especially if you compare this to most other creators who just overly edit everything and pace their videos absurdly fast to increase viewer retention, while in reality it just makes everything boring. Amazing work!

I know this was a year ago, but for anyone without a heater, especially for folks in smaller spaces, here's what you do: Materials -- two terracotta pots. One needs to fit inside the other with a decent amount of space between the pots - tealight candles, a bowl of oil and some cotton, some small non-electric heat/light source - a heatproof plate of some sort - some rocks put your heat/light source in the middle of the plate and some rocks around it. Light it the source and cover it with the smaller pot, using the rocks to keep a space between the plate and the pot. Cover the hole in the smaller pot with another rock or something. Put the larger pot over it all and wait. The pots will trap the heat and create a...convection current? I think it's called? Basically the space between your two pots cycles air and heat. Once it heats up, DO NOT TOUCH IT WITH YOUR BARE HANDS. YOU WILL BURN YOURSELF. Either let the source burn out or use potholders/thick cloth to pick up the pots so you can extinguish the source. Also for rainwater, I'm not entirely sure how it would work on the road but maybe fashion your roof into some sort of rainwater harvesting system? And save some gallon jugs. You can filter water with tree branches, so filtering the rainwater and then bottling it will help with that supply. You could also collect water from rivers and streams as you pass and do the same. Stay safe out there

But I also feel sometimes that I'm so stuck with all the responsibilities and studies that I've taken over that I'm never going to experience what Natalie has. Thanks to Natalie, I got to see parts of the world that I thought I'd never see. As someone who is kinda forced to live a sedentary life (due to studies and financial stuff), it makes me feel kinda envious yet happy to see her live a life long dream of mine. I hope I'll be able to do the same one day, not only for the experience, but to find out who I really am... So, thank you Natalie for letting us in on this journey, although it feels bittersweet to see it come to an end... Can't wait to see what comes next and may your 2023 bring you even more life-experiences. Much love from little old Belgium :)

As a another young vehicle dweller... Watching this was amazing. All of the internal reaching, the lack of ever feeling settled, questioning what you're doing, and then the appreciation for the simpler things and the confidence/self certainty that follows, it's a journey. An absolute wild ride. You made me feel less alone in the way that I think. Thank you! Amazing film style :)

"What am I doing here?" ... that sentence .. I was sent off to attend school 3000 miles away from home when I wasn't even in my mid-teens. Losing all my friends, my town, everything... Looking back 40+ years, I think I did pretty well despite everything, as a nomad with two talents: coding and music. I wouldn't have made it without.

I did a trip to Europe this last summer and lived out of a backpack for 5 weeks. I totally relate to the feeling you experienced of confusion about purpose. It's funny how when you take away our work or school or whatever normal people are supposed to do it's really easy to question your purpose. Thanks for sharing Natalie!

I have seen your page in my recommended for the past year and never actually clicked on your videos until today. I cried. A lot. Your journey is so meaningful. I'm only a few years older than you so it's not like I know what the fuck I'm talking about, but I am so proud of you for actually committing to the thing you want to do. It feels like there aren't many people out there truly following their dreams and while I am on an entirely different path than you are, your videos still made me feel like my dreams are validated. You seem like such a good human. Thank you for sharing your journey with the world. Thank you Natalie - from, someone who appreciated these videos more than you could know

Okay, I just watched the last 5 videos this morning at my office job and what an emotional rollercoaster that was. All before 9am... 1. I want to travel so bad but life doesn't allow for it right now. 2. I wish I had this ambition at 18 or whatever right out of high school to just explore but I was such a different person at 18 than I am now at 32. 3. Your subtle and natural story telling is so good, i just want to keep on watching what this trip has in store. Can't wait for the next upload.

This is motivational and real. In life it can feel so alone sometimes even when you have so many near. You sometimes have to force yourself out, put yourself into an opportunity to the company of someone else even if they are a stranger. I often live in the world of myself, unsure about the future but this really showed it’s important to grow and experience more, to grow. Thank you!

Revisiting this six months after my first visit. Now realizing that at almost 64 years of age, searching internally for a sense of certainty inside myself, challenging myself to figure out who I am at MY core, away from all societal pressures, attachments, expectations things or places sounds like a little slice of heaven. Taking my husband with me so we can figure it out together. Only one more thing needs to happen first and then we're off. Thank you for making it much clearer.

I empathize you on finding what your end goal really is, I feel kinda the same. Even though in my heart and mind I am on the right path yet after attaining those goals I find myself lost. No matter how clear or linear your goal is, it will not give us a longterm content and we are in a constant state of looking for what we really want in our life. I am grateful to watch your videos, although I knew I'm not the only one who feel lost but it allows me to cope and realize that life will never be a race and it never will. We have our own marathon and we dictate the situation that we find ourselves in, no matter good or bad, we are our own present.

Was very happy for you both. You are lucky children. It ain’t just a van. They can truly be magical vehicles that can transport you far away to whole other spaces on the inside. I’ve done 6 years in a van. I left a whole life behind, and it was my last resort at trying life again. Starting fresh. The journey was an undoing, a shedding, and an powerful accelerator for change. When I moved into the van I had nothing but a backpack. Slept on my clothes and didn’t have any mattress for a year, and slowly bit by bit the hole van came together, but for the last 6 years I’ve been riding across a knife edge. Never truly in a comfort zone, but the more I faced the challenges the more I became stronger in what and who I am. I feel like I’ve done life times. It’s like everyone else is just being the same doing the same. I feel like I’ve been travelling the universe. Some of the hardest years of my life, and I’m still struggling, but god oh god I am thankful for being awakened. Truth is my blessing. Van lifers really don’t get enough respect. People have no idea how tough it is. You have to face ego death in many ways in life, but living the vanlife can be extremely humbling. It will challenge everything about you. It’s a hole other thing when you have savings, but much love and respect goes out to my fellow vanlifers who are driving on a razor’s edge.

I cried through this entire video. Me and my family of five and four pets lived in a 14ft trailer for ten months and it made me appreciate anything and everything so much more. I took so many things for granted before we became homeless for a short time and that teeny little trailer was such a huge blessing despite every issue we had along with it. I dream of someday getting to do what you’re doing and experience what this world has to offer.
