I moved to Akron about 3 years ago and am quite happy with that decision. The things that I like most about Akron are the trees, city parks and the rolling hills. The cost of living is low and allows you to actually have free time. Near the city are many beautiful old towns and places to explore. The waterways and lakes are clean. I live near Portage Lakes. I think with the change we're seeing in more people working from home it could be good for cities like Akron. I mean why pay $400k with $12k in property taxes for a 1200 sq ft home in say NJ, my home state, when you can have the same in Akron for about $180k and $2.5k in property taxes? And yes, all the guys in Akron are as cute, friendly and sweet as this guy! Jersey not so much.

“Racism, not race, causes disproportionately higher rates of homelessness, incarceration, poor education, health outcomes and economic hardship for African-Americans,” Rose said. “Policing is not the end-all, be-all of racism. That type of unnecessary use of deadly force towards minorities has just recently come to the forefront because too many unarmed humans of African descent have ended up dead before they could come before the court of law.” Rose told the Health and Social Service Committee that the task force and the strategic plan will include specific goals and timelines for reaching quantitative benchmarks related to equity.

I'm 54 years old, I grew up in Akron during the 70s and 80s. I moved to Cleveland in 1999, because Akron was just too sleepy for me. I was working as a waiter and bartender and the tips in Akron were so stingy. I tripled my income just by moving 35 miles to the north. I'm happy to see that LeBron has been good to Akron, very much so. I used to work at Tangiers and I couldn't stand Edward George, what a mean and nasty boss he was. There has been some great changes to Akron since 99. It looks like it's on the upswing. And Akron U has always been a good college. I used to watch the Zips play at the Rubber Bowl. And instead of building that stadium on campus, I would have loved to seen them renovate the Rubber Bowl instead. It was a great stadium and it was historic before it was abandoned and demolished.

I was born and raised in Akron. And Akron really isn't all that bad. There are some neighborhoods that are more colorful than others. I think Arlington St between E Exchange and Archwood Ave would be a place to avoid. Copley Rd east of I-77. And Vernon Odom Blvd east of 77 are also places to avoid. And when I say avoid, I mean, I personally wouldn't want to live in those areas. But just driving through or driving around in those areas is relatively safe.
