I grew up in DFW (Grapevine), and lived in and around Dallas until I was 29. I was Dallas to the core. I always said you're either a Dallas person or an Austin person. But I've lived an hour north of Austin for 10 years now, and Austin has completely grown on me. It's so much prettier than the "flat, farmland" that is Dallas. It's so flat up there!

Thanks so much for the great feedback! I absolutely know what you're saying, especially being from San Antonio and having family in Dallas. Dallas is a great city and I love visiting. To your point, once you have a taste of the natural beauty in the Austin area, it is very hard to leave! So glad you're enjoying yourselves!

A thing that Austin has over Dallas is the outdoor kick-back dining scene, that's surprisingly hard to find in Dallas, which is weird because there's so much empty space in DFW.

That's a great point, Michael! Appreciate it.

@@MovingATX One of my kids (from Austin) goes to UT Dallas, and has a friend from Rockwall, and they were driving somewhere and she said "man look, another strip mall" and the friend said "what's a strip mall?" The strip mall established magnificence in DFW should not be understated; it's amazing. Also, the zoning laws in Dallas that (apparently) enforce the connection of adjacent shopping center parking lots is **SO** much better than Austin.

You can’t compare the two .. You have to think of Dallas in the greater scale bc Dallas is part of the DFW metro which is like 8 MM plus people.. Austin’s metro area is only around 2MM. People form the suburbs as well as Fort Worth live work play etc in Dallas and vice versa as well as it’s continuous city to city.. Also, Dallas, as most believe, is the most glamorous of all Texas cities.. They have more money, the most billionaires, best shopping, awesome dining, awesome sports venues and teams, awesome nightlife on a larger scale and some of the most beautiful people if not the most in Texas.. It’s definitely a city where people are fit, on their game w their careers and out to conquer .. Austin is beautiful city and all that on a smaller scale with the exception of having a hot nerd/ hippy vibe.. Austin is definitely a lot more laid back.. and Houston, well don’t get me started on Houston.. It’s like Dallas’ older more goofy sister that doesn’t know how to dress or what to do with herself.. Although Houston is bigger , it definitely lacks.. And I can say so bc I lived in all 3 Texas. Cities with Houston being the longest.. Def visit and see the difference for yourself.. For me , it’s Dallas hands down.. So much to do see and places to be seen.. The excitement and energy of the city is palpable!!!

Looks like you are comparing City to City not over all Metro.... DFW Metro population is much higher than you stated.

Which city is better for business-tech students and workers?
@MovingATX6 ай бұрын
That's a tough call because both Austin and Dallas have great options. The opportunities in Dallas seem to center around the financial industry more, whereas Austin is very tech and government geared being the state's capital. Happy to talk offline as well if you'd like.

Lived in both cities and was born in McKinney which is 35 miles north. Austin is a quirky, open-minded, progressive city with a laid back charm. Dallas and Fort Worth is pretentious and old school money. Think of Dallas as Barbie and Austin as Pippie Longstocking. Lol

lol well said! Austin Barbie is west of downtown 😅

Which city is better for selling ice cream or food by food truck
@MovingATX6 ай бұрын
Austin has a large food truck population, many of which are just as good if not better than many of the brick and mortar locations.

@@MovingATX thank you so much 😊 So if I want to move Texas , You mean for setting up the food truck, is Austin the best?
