We love Cedar City. We've had a place on the mountain in Duck Creek since 1979, so CC has been our place to shop and dine for years. We've seen it grow a lot over that time, but it still retains that small town welcoming charm.

Coming from someone who lived in Cedar for 8months in 2018, I can say is this the locals will complain that there's nothing to do. Well they are wrong spring,summer, spring, there's plenty of hiking, mountian biking, atv trails, 2 National parks close by and many more 250-500miles away. In the winter there's Brian head and the Beaver ski resort. Trust me if your a outdoors type of person this is the city for you. Heck someone could spend 5years and still discover more. I only left because of personal issues. Heck I was looking too be a real-estate agent 3 times out there the first time in 2018 before I went back to my homestate. And was about to head out again before the pandemic to become one out there, but was talked out of it. I took a vacation (2021) earlier this year too Cedar and Zion and was about too stay. But discided to go back to my home state and think about moving back out there again. Long story short I could have been your agent. 3 times. My advice is have a job lined up, skill too take with you, or a professional career. There may be civilization out there, but your still in the wild west of finding a job or making a business successful. I'm looking at moving out again soon if my new job will allow it (Trucker). And will hopefully explore the area again. Since my vacation I can tell you with everyone moving in after the pandemic it doesn't feel like a small town out in the middle of know where anymore, I'm glad I got to take many drives in the county side before it turned into suburbs. (Locals would understand). Again great place too live if you have a income, but losing it scenic wild west touch.

If you are purchasing a vacation home and won't be there most of the winter, do you have to worry about your pipes freezing?
@LivingInCedarCity
@LivingInCedarCity 9 ай бұрын
Craig - there are some easy ways to make sure your pipes won't freeze. Some people will 'winterize' the house by shutting off the water and blowing out the pipes. If the heat in the house is kept at 55 degrees or so, that's typically enough to keep the pipes from freezing.

What areas were affected by all the flooding earlier this year. What areas should one avoid??
@LivingInCedarCity
@LivingInCedarCity 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Suomi- there were subdivisions on the south end of Cedar, the northeast side, and some Enoch subdivisions got hit really hard. I'm told this was a '600 year flood.' It was nothing like I've seen in 30 years in the area. There are flood control measures already in the works to prevent this in the future - if there is anything like this again. Interestingly, none of these areas is in a FEMA flood zone. Happy to provide more details - call or text me and we can discuss. 435-590-1426.

I have a good buddy living here and says I should consider moving. Politically, I’m a moderate, but lean more towards conservatism. I’m Christian and I believe in freedom and the constitution. Only problem I’m mixed and don’t look white. It said the black population is 0.8 percent and Hispanic population is 8 percent. Scared I’m gonna get judged or have to deal with racist/ racist police like I did in Georgia.

Paul - my dear old dad used to say, "wherever you go, there you are." By that he meant that the one consistent thing in all one's interactions is oneself. I get asked often about the local culture, and if people will "fit in." My question back is, "were there good people where you came from?" Because there's great people, and a few jerks, in every community. If our new neighbors love this community, this community will love them back. Best of luck! We used to not have a traffic problem downtown, but now with all the out-of-staters moving in the traffic on Main Street has increased dramatically. @@LivingInCedarCity Tell that to yourself when you sit in the left-turn lane at 200N and Main for three light changes during mid-day. I live 10 miles out of town, and fortunately on 20 acres. over the past 2-3 years we have seen growth out here like CA! We used to have antelope herds, deer herds, and large flocks of wild turkeys in our field, but no more. We just have a lot of light pollution at night, noisy neighbors, druggies a few roads over, etc. People around here used to wave with all five fingers, till the rude out-of-staters moved in. Sorry for the rant.

@@wfwillis I have experienced the same frustration with the light at 200 N and Main street for quite some time. I contacted the City a few years ago and they started using the left turn arrow, but I think they need to do a traffic study and adjust all the traffic lights accordingly. I think this might solve that problem. Note to self "Contact the City to request a traffic study and light adjustment"☺
