In this video, I take you on an updated tour of our 'Hutong House' here in Beijing and show you what a $1300 Beijing apartment really looks like. We changed a few things recently and we have been living here for 3 years so thought it would be good to show you the changes we have made since moving in.
If you are thinking about moving to Beijing or China then you might find some of my other films useful as well.

Haha we must do a good job of filming in a small space. In the other video we show a lot more of the neighbourhood. When the weather gets a bit warmer we might do a one of all the cool hutongs in Beijing.

That makes such a difference, just having some outdoor space and the gorgeous light coming in. Rice cooker, slow cooker and mini-oven were all essential purchases for us too when we lived in Korea 👌🏻

As a beijinger that never actually have chance to grow up in hutong, I really love your apartment. It's cozy, it's modern simple, it really like a secret little garden in the urban old beijing! A little advice if you're still using laptop a lot: there's a product called DJ支架 (DJ bracket). Yes it's mainly for DJ performing that kind of thing, but when you have to using laptop for a very long time, this one better than normal laptop bracket since it could lift your laptop on same line as your eye visual line while others only lift a bit on table. you need a keyboard tho... but it's worth it.

What theeeeeeeeeee....... I was paying 300$ in China last year and I had a MUCH bigger appartment. 2 floors loft with GIGANTIC window that spans the two floors and insane amount of light on the 18th floor. Separate office space/tiny room space. Bedroom on the mezzanine. Central heating and AC in the building. The building was BRAND new and just over a metro station.... This was in Hefei, Capital of Anhui province. A "small city" of 8 millions people. I guess that's the difference between living in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen VS literally any other provincial capital of China.
