I currently have this from being on a cruise then taking a long flight home to california from Italy. Luckily in San Diego I found Chiropractic Neurologists that can help me through Optikinetic exercises. I have only seen the doctor one time since my initial testing and already and functioning better. I hope this can help others

For anyone reading this, i got it for 2 weeks after using the elevator. It stopped at the wrong floor and i anxiously hurried out and got back in, which I presume, caused the imbalance I endured for a good few painful days. I would have really bad anxiety attacks, which worsened the rocking and swaying motion. But, it soon went away by the end of 2 weeks and I am very thankful for it. Try to be patient, walk 10 mins twice daily, practice some vestibular exercises and you should be good.

4 days on a cruise, and i had MDDS for 2 months and it was INSANELY severe. I was falling over, couldn’t put my makeup on without smearing it across my face, had to hold on to things as i walked around my house. I was laughed at and even accused of faking or exaggerating it. I used the visual physical therapy to help my symptoms and eventually, it subsided.

Physical therapy does not work for this syndrome. Medication and symptom management can help and hopefully trigger remission. SNRI’s like Effexor are usually prescribed as well as long acting Benzodiazepines which suppress the central nervous system like Ativan. Dr. Shin Beh in Frisco, TX is one of the only neurologists in the country to specialize in treating this. I hope this information might help someone watching this that might be suffering from MdDS.

I think Excessive Physical activity (Running, swimming, Skippin) which are natural movements turns off the switch/complex circuit in the brain as causes MDDS, just like the unnatural movements did(plane, boat, elevator, train, car, bike) together with stress/anxity as turns on the switch as causes MDDS in the brain. This together with not taking any medications or doing any unnatural movements (driving a car or being a passanger, or using a bike e.g.) for up to a year after onset off MDDS will turn the MDDS off in the brain.

@RAVETOR thanks for replying. I'm currently on day 5 of feeling the swayings and all after boarding an elevator. It's so weird. I'm eating, sleeping and exercising well though and while the feeling is not very intense, I'm still unable to ignore it either. I'm not sure how long this should take to get better. Do you think using an elevator once again may likely bring things back to normal?
@RAVETOR

@@shelveswithstories13 I recommend you not to use the elevator (Or another passive motion) until the dizzines has went away. It will go away don't worry.

I've had this swaying feeling for 5 days now after getting off a 4 day cruise last week. I wonder if the wrist bands with acupressure beads will help. I'll try them tonight as I sleep.

@RAVETOR

@Arnold Palmer You don't need to be using drugs to be a raver - I see the music (electronic music) as the drug as make me happy. In my case It's movement triggered in combination with stress. I have never got it spontaneously, fortunately. Some people get it from panicattacks, I have also had it, but it never triggered my mdds. And this has happened 3 times, outspread under 15 years in my life as I wrote: " (plane, cruise, elevator)".
