I've been living in Da Nang for 6 years, its definitely a gem that's getting bigger and bigger. Large tourist city too and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh Vietnamese residents are moving here all the time for an easier life. You have to leave the bigger cities like Saigon/Hanoi to get better cost of living. Da Nang or Nha Trang is better but choose the suburbs of that city. You will find cheap airbnb's for $200/month and if airbnb's cost that low, you know there will be other apartments in that same price range. Same for Thailand, you'll find plenty of $200/month apartments outside of the big cities for a simple one bedroom one bath condo/apartment. There is cheap street food -- it should be a $300 per month (about $10 per day) for food expenses (as long as you don't care about partying or expensive restaurants). Internet wifi + phone sim card $100? Monthly scooter rental $100? So yeah $800 per month seems very reasonable.

@@userdhss-hsjs the way things are currently I would get a 3mth visa then at the end of 3mths I'd nip over to Thailand for 1 week and get another 3mth visa and so on till the Vietnam govt wakes up and catches up to the rest of Asia 😊
@userdhss-hsjs2 ай бұрын
@@lenvan5045 Not going to happen ever. VN will never offer a retirement visa. They dont want or need long stay foreigners, unlike Thailand which has a tourism based economy. If you plan to do border runs as a retiree I think you're delusional. The uncertainty with visas will always be there. And at any time VN immigration could restrict 3-mo visas to 1 or no renewals per year. Sounds like you havent lived in Asia because you dont know what can go wrong. Also, as a retiree you're much better off in Thailand. Much better medical, lower housing costs, much better beaches and overall easier for westerners. Vietnam is rough.
@lenvan50452 ай бұрын
@@userdhss-hsjs well I won't comment on Thailand because I'm not up with the play there, unlike you I don't make assumptions, I never mentioned anything about retirement visa's, and I have been in Asia, specifically Vietnam for over 15mths now doing visa runs to Singapore from hcm city when they were only 30day visas, the 3mth visa is fine, I can use the time to travel to other places, yes you are right about we don't know what's ahead regarding visa so again I won't make any assumptions and will just keep doing what I'm doing till things change. Local population spend more in the city centre instead of going home watching TV

On the other hand that may also turn VN into a second Cambodia or like many Indian reservations in North America. Casino trade is associated with alcoholism, prostitution, government corruption and organized crime. It brings quick bucks in the short term but nothing positive in the long run. Industrialization and strong valuation/investment into education bring the healthy long future. South Korea is a shining example.

Great, this video just ruined it. They will have this video to thank when inflation hits
@h011yw00d2 ай бұрын
Inflation doesn't just magically appear because people know about it. South East Asia has low cost of living because the locals do not get paid much. So all these vendors, landlords can't just makeup prices only targeting foreigners. The locals have to live there too, they have to eat there too. That's why the prices remain low. But not so for the bigger cities like HCM/Hanoi because to live there everyone has to work, even the women. So prices start to rise. Just like in the US, everything is more expensive in LA/NY than some small town in Idaho or Montana. Higher min wage, higher gasoline prices, higher cost of living. So avoid the bigger cities, find a beach city and go into it's suburb villages to find an small apartment. Smaller villages have less people, less demand, most times the women don't really work or have to because the prices from rent to food is pretty low for the locals.

These videos are at best misleading, at worst fraudulent as no "Tay" can live in Danang for this amount for more than a few months. If you are a 22 year vlogger, sure, any adult, no chance.
