I am a Finnish history enthusiast and I now heard that praying story first time. Propably deep christian believers tell that story more.. For regular Finns it is unfamiliar..

We lived in our Mökki the whole last winter in north Karelia at -40 °C as well while not having a "real" home ^^ Freshly coming from Germany. But somehow I managed to get a job for the first time in my life while staying in the Mökki. I immediately felt at home in Finland as well. This summer was another record summer. I love Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Tampere, Turku, some districts of Helsinki, Rovaniemi, and also linking Pori and Jämsä. So many cities to love ^^ Sima is great, Mämmi, Pulla, rye bread, salmiaki..

Lovely, that you mentioned Naantali. :) I live and work here and this is actually a very nice, tidy and pretty place. And we have Moomin world by the sea! Also, I have a mökki, 'cause Naantali is just too much of a city for me, I need the countryside and some forests around me. Anyway, a nice talk, thank you!

First time hearing that prayer story! That's amazing. It's crazy how God helps us even though He knew we would forget Him a short time later... God is too kind.

I have never heard the prayer story either. But Finns are no doubt impressed if you learn Finnish or bother to learn something about their small country. Most of us are very non religious and prefer to live in a secular, evidence based world, where values come from secular humanism and not from ancient anecdotal sources. Beliefs have consequences...and we should strive to believe as many true things and as few false things as possible.
