the first time i went to gulf shores, with my family was in 1978,i was 15,there just wasent much to foley,or any of the towns along hwy 59,even gulf shores was not what it is now, and ft.morgan rd, is there was just nothing.. i was there a few weeks ago,and the traffic through foley is just brutal, like a much larger city.

It's funny because we see both sides. We're used to no traffic so it's quick to say it's a lot, but... we also remember what it's like going 1 city block in an hour 😬

@@LivingInLowerAlabama iys funny to say,but the two major hurricanes, that i remeber actually did alot in develoing the area, hurrican fredriic in 198o, the first hurricane given a guy name, really devastaed, gulf shore, and areas of mobile, move develoement started coming in, then huricane ivan,in the early 2ooos, again just devastated gulf shores, and the area,,but that also lead to more develoement, much of what you see now came after hurricane ivan, the wharf, the hangout, much of the area on ft.morgan rd,on into foley, and other towns.

Our homeowner's insurance here in Louisiana is out of control. 6-8k a year for an average sized house! We now have 2-3 companies writing new policies and that's projected to shrink. How are the rates there?

A lot goes into account but the average home is usually around $1,500-$3,000

Moving to Baldwin soon, July 2023, not sure where. Daphne, Spanish Fort, Fairhope, ugh too many good choices.

Hey David (I'm Dave). All of Baldwin County is great. We learned about Fairhope first. About Foley, though, it's central to everything, right between Pensacola and Mobile. Home prices are lower than Fairhope and the beaches. Lots of shopping. Could use a few more restaurants but again, the other towns are close. We even have a new bagel shop in Foley (I'm from New Jersey). A good mix of southerners and northerners, mostly from the upper midwest like IL, WS, MI. Slightly older population. Fairhope is Daphne is great and only 20-35 minutes from Foley, but further from the beaches. But all in all, you can't go wrong anywhere in Baldwin County. Good luck with your move!

How much does a couple in their 40s need to make to live comfortably? No kids.

That's a hard question! I've seen people make $40k a year live comfortably and I've watched a couple making $250k with bonuses struggle! It really depends on how you live your life.
