I'm African, I've been living in Spain for 55 years, I've lived in the USA for four years, my ex-husband is American. Everybody loves Madrid capital but my advice to you is (if you are thinking of live here for more than vacations) look at the periphery of Madrid. There are smaller cities with a large population of afro-spaniards, and other communities: (on the nordeste of Madrid) LIKE Torrejón de Ardoz (the ex-American Air Force Base and now the PARQUE EUROPA city), Alcalá de Henares (the oldest university in Madrid) Coslada and more. (sud of Madrid) Móstoles, Getafe etc. 20 to 25 kilómetros from the capital: best prices in apartments and houses, shopping malls, supermarkets at walking distances, particularly good schools (all bilingual) and exceptionally effective communication with Madrid (train bus or metro). My family and I have lived in TORREJON DE ARDOZ for 30 years, it is the best small city in Madrid in every way (in my opinion) and diverse also. But of course, do your own research.

Hey there! We’d been twice before & thought the city was a bit businessy & stuffy but as it turns out we were just staying in the wrong area! I’m so glad we came back a third time & gave it another shot - it’s one of our favorite cities now

Great couple. Welcome and I hope you find the best neighborhood with enough diversity but you are right, you will not find the same diversity as in Latina or Lavapies in other areas, but little by little that is changing since every year more and more expats from all over are comming to live here. I wish you the best of luck since you are very nice, humble and respectful with our culture.

La Latina & Lavapiés we’re the most diverse by far. We enjoyed staying in La Latina, but some of the partying on the weekends caused a bit of noise. Cuatro Caminos was the other neighborhood we really enjoyed 😍 so many families & gorgeous buildings
