Fantastic video! I’ve sold my house and ready to go once we’re allowed :) one quick question, I’m worried about how well I’ll get by with my limited Spanish. For example if I needed to call the electric company about an issue with a bill, would they be able to converse with me in English?
@MallorcaUnderTheSun3 жыл бұрын
You'll be making a move you won't regret!! Don't worry too much about your Spanish. I'll make a video about this. It's actually quite hard TO speak Spanish when 90% of people you'll talk to will hear your accent and answer back in English. RE. Electricity companies, I managed when I first moved here, so give it a go and if you get stuck, ask a neighbour or friend to help make that call. But you should be OK. Many services have an English line (eg. Vodafone). I can't remember if Endesa have an English service...

Great video and informative. My partner is from Mallorca and he informs me that the free schools are all Catalan. Basically Spanish is learnt by osmosis being in Spain. Have you had this experience or did you send your child to an international school? My top cons would be 1- the income / rent cost ratio- anyone who has regular job (average level and below) will never have a beautiful home, actually even some nice homes have mold or at least weird smell and disgusting water.2- education- I know many people who left only because they want better education for their children. 3- the food.4- Career- no such thing, here is where your aspiration dies.

Yes and no! You see for the Scandinavians or the Swiss here, they find it a lot cheaper than they would in their own country, whereas the Mallorcans surviving on an average Mallorca salary is hard. Expats brought in to do a specialised job role or those who work on yachts (yacht captains can earn 11€k a month! )- find Mallorca is very affordable. Too many different scenarios for the people who live here! It depends what you do... but I do get what you mean, because the rental prices have gone mad in recent years. :)
