It's nice of you not to take a side in our never ending linguistic debates. I would also add that approaching this issue without judgement, but rather with a spirit of mutual respect, is immensely more constructive that the usual "francophones are racists" or "anglophones are imperialists".

Hi Yasmeen! Jesse here. If Quebec were classed as a country in Canada, would you speak English there, too, as if it is widely spoken?

Thank you so much for this video. It’s very helpful, I’m trying my best to learn French right now, and I’ll study it more. I’m moving to Montreal this year, and I’m excited to embrace the language and culture. I hope the native speakers in Quebec will be patient with me and my family. I’m moving there because I want to be immersed in the language, and learn to speak it. Your channel is great. I hope my daughter can meet you someday. She will be applying to transfer to McGill or Concordia and is your age. If you’re willing to connect with her, I can give you her contact info ❤️💜

Really appreciate your neutral and open minded approach. You shouldn’t be expected to speak fluent french if you’re coming here as a student though, especially since you’ve chosen an anglophone college. All the best for your studies! 🙂👊

My great grandparents came here from Ireland and England. My grandparents grew up here. My parents grew up here. I grew up in Ontario and living here again for the second time. All of us were/are anglophones. There have always been strong pockets of anglo communities in Montreal. Beyond knowing how to order a coffee in french, I don't need to learn anything, as I work remotely for a company outside of Quebec. If you don't need French for your job, you can get by easily without it, and that's okay.

@@JeremyCoolDude I guess..but imagine it the other way around. If you are born in Alberta and never learn English, people will think you're rude for not trying to assimilate. Not sure why anglos get a pass.

I was born in Montreal My Dad talks to me in Italian My Mom talks to me in English When I was growing up I went to a French school From kindergarten to College { French } I went to McGill University in English { English } I speak three languages French Italian English as a native speaker I strongly encourage parents to place their children in the French school system if they speak English at home This way children will speak perfect French and English as native speaker like me. I want to add, if French parents speak French at home and send their children to a French-only school, they will ONLY be able to communicate in French. This will only make Quebec their Prison they will never work outside of Quebec. If the adult child gets a job offer say in the USA, or anywhere outside of Quebec, and only can communicate in French, no one will hire them, hence Quebec is their Prison.

Pfff... I went to French school only, my parents don’t even speak a good English and my English level is advanced. Because we are surrounded by English speakers, anyway. By the way, French is an international language

@@sammexp Well this is part of the problem, You went to a French school and never attended an English school, and to top it off your parents don’t even speak good English which explains your way of thinking that French is an international language. if you had a formal English education you would know better, but sadly this is not the case. Most of the listed countries have an all-black population And most countries are not even safe for a white man to live or visit. Watch this video then tell me you as a white man want to go there with your wife and daughter kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqGYq5Zrh7SnsKc French is not even spoken in all the Canadian Provinces let alone other countries.
