It's unbelievable that while this was going on, Canada would wire 8 billion $ a year to Quebec in transfer payments. These people didn't deserve a penny, but got 8 billion annually instead. What a shame.

Here is a retort to your comment. Language develops and changes and becomes more advanced and developed. The French in Quebec is broken and slanged from it's France counterpart. English is just a development from a lesser language. Happy now?

So much ignorance in this video. You can clearly tell those anglophones who used to live in montreal (especially those in the video) are not educated people. They had small lives and were mind restricted to being scared to learn the smallest amount of french. Its ridiculous, most educated or rich people of anglophone descendent in Montreal today speak at least a bit of french. It simply is about knowing about the main language of were you live, you do not have to switch all your life in french

"So much respect for 80% of the population of the Province." In Quebec, a francophone doesn't have to work to earn respect. He gets respect through legislation. And if you don't respect him, you get a brick through your window, with "last chance" scribbled on it.

@emiliokis1 Agreed. I am, personally, not a separatist, but I do have sympathy and understand the Quebec want for separation. If you were to see the economic realities of Quebec, you'd understand it as well. The English owned and still own almost everything in the province. It is an economic movement first cultural movement second IMO. I

Usually, when english quebeckers tell french quebeckers about the exodus of anglophones, it is all about blaming french quebeckers, separatism, our linguistic laws, our supposed intolerance, and so on, vous connaissez la chanson. This documentary gives a different sound, it tells of a human experience. Michel Patrice

Oh, poor little things. They need to speak french to get the job... well, I live near Ottawa, but in a city on Québec's ground. If I want to go and work in Ottawa, I need my English and you don't see me crying and whining about it. Get over it, English people. You are so not the victim here.

Against human rights? Are Anglos banned from speaking English in public? NO. You people love to hyperbolise and exaggerate. The majority of bilingual people in Canada are Francophones, not Anglos, and even in areas like Ontario and New Brunswick that are minority Francophones, they still speak English. So what's the big deal about Anglos being forced to speak the language that 80% of the province they live in speaks?

See that's the difference between Quebec and the rest of Canada. If you are from Quebec and come to ontario and try to speak french to someone the person is GOING TO EITHER A) do their best to recall the french they were forced to learn in school or B) Nicely tell them they can't speak French, offer to help in English, or see if there is someone around that can speak French. I've had the cold shoulder given to me in Montreal and Quebec sometimes, one time in Quebec when I ordered pepperoni pizza I literally had to say un pepperoni before I could get served. The name was the same, I Just had to add an UN before it to be acknowledged. How dumb.
