I recently subscribed to your channel. Have been wanting to get out on the road myself. Appreciate your style of video sharing the dailies and cooking on the road. This video was really important to see as the weather isn't always perfect and what do you do in the rain. I'm also scared of the the idea of the nightly sleeping spot challenge. I know it must get easier as you do it. But could definitely feel the stress of its almost night time. Nice to see you posting again, your videos are super helpful for those of us looking to get on the road someday. Thanks for sharing!!

Hi Chuck, after living on the road myself for quite a while in a rooftop tent on a 4runner that it's true that trying to find places to sleep can be stressful. It can also be kind of exciting *if* you are out west near a lot of BLM land. It does depend on the rig too though especially if you are in populated areas... I do a lot of work out of a Toyota Prius these days and as long as I don't have to do crazy off-roading I can sleep in that thing anywhere the door is locked and heat or AC going.

@@chucktrow8577 it definitely does. I have camped in over 100° Fahrenheit and in temperatures below freezing. Also there's almost nothing that beats it's stealthiness

Illegal to sleep in your car in public and private places in and not all Walmarts allow it beyond myth. Popping a roof tent will get a cop to say hello for sure. And running your vehicle is not ethical. Financially and environmentally. You need a solar battery/inverter to run off of while you drive in the day or charge via panels in the day. Huge waste of gas and attention is brought to you as climate control needs engine power to work. Or suck it up. Crack a window.

The Artist’s Way! I have used the tools in that book since 1996. I have journaled every morning since then (including left handed after two surgeries to my right arm). As a result I am editing the third draft of my first novel, editing a web series I wrote and acted in, had my photography in a few shows and sold some work, performed in an improv show and two plays, was Script Supervisor my friend’s first feature film, and am preparing for a spring shoot of my first short film. I’ve also facilitated TAW as 12 week courses several time (aforementioned filmmaker friend was in it and had a lead role in a Law and Order SVU episode a couple years ago). His film is winning crazy independent film awards. Anyway all that to say-with that book I can’t wait to see where you go from here! I love your videos. Keep creating! 📷

Hey, Nathaniel! Great rainy day vid. I've been SUV dwelling about 70% of the time for five years. It can be a challenge. Spent four years up in Colorado's White River National Forest working at a mill. Rain wasnt usually an issue, but snow and wind. Man! Wind! I loved it, but had to leave so that I could do the things I'm doing now. Seeing more of the country, meeting the people. Life is good on the road. Thanks for sharing. ~Sonny

Hey Nathaniel. Nice to see you're uploading again. I hope you'll manage to keep it up. I really enjoy your videos, they have a real calming effect on me. Also, don't feel like you have to do something special for a vlog. Your way of life is unusual and that makes it interesting to people like me who are stuck in the rat race. I'd happily watch anything to do with how you go about your everyday life. Hope to see more from you. Enjoy the desert 👍

Thanks for doing this video. I understand you and other vanlifers want to be interesting and entertaining but I think sometime y'all forget we also follow you for real life information because we're interested in living this lifestyle. Seeing what you do when you're not out hiking, taking great photos, and hanging with your friends is part of the information we want to know. Everything about van life is interesting to people who aren't living it, from how you do laundry to how you entertain yourself on rainy days. Vanlifers rarely, if ever, show their laundry days and I think that can actually be a disservice to their audience because it gives the illusion of freedom from regular life. So thanks again for doing something outside the box.

This is a good balance to all the woohoo, life is perfect, travel videos. Sometimes you are just in your car. Or stressed looking for a place to spend the night. Nice simple set up! FYI. It's been 17 days since I had no other option but to live in my suv after chaotic roommate situation. This is my favorite way to wake up- the pitter-patter and petrichor of rain is my absolute favorite. 🌧😌💕 (As is this video of yours!) The Seattle the rent is too high and I want to avoid another roommate nightmare, so shifting my perspective from panic/survival mode to _adventure mode_ with *gratitude* to God has helped me immensely. Every day I'm thankful to Him for breath in my lungs, sight to see, ears to hear, the warmth of my car, and the beautiful community of vandweller nomads online who have a plethora of knowledge and creativity for me to consume! Thank you and God bless you! 💛 _P.S. if you're ever back in WA: my favorite place for solitude with a beautiful landscape is around the Ollalla area._ 😉

To anybody: Most people speak inspirational quotes about chasing dreams, not giving up, and being passionate. But no one speaks up for those who don't have dreams (or haven't realized what they want in life). You might feel lonely and lost, but just know that you are not alone. I myself do not have goals or dreams or passion. I learned not to bother. I am fine and I hope you are, too. Sorry I am not sure about my English grammar. it's not my native language. I have very little experience camping in general but was wondering if two things would help on long rainy days like this: a roof awning and an electric wall towel drier/warmer (not sure on power usage, but something I try myself) 🍻

could get an awning for sure! wouldn't have helped at all in this storm though, was waaaay too windy haha. sideways rain

The rainy car interior scenes remind me a lot of "PRISIONERS" by Denis Villeneuve. It is not a boring Vlog at all. Calm and relaxed. To film something for pleasing audience I guess it is the worst lifestyle to live with.

Honestly I was just thinking to myself "I wonder if anyone's done a stormy day suv life video" and boom, this pops up to answer my question! It's good to know before going out there.

I love this video Very realistic Down to Earth Wet 😓 I wonder if you ever tried push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups (maybe need to mount a bar on your ceiling, pull up from lying position/ better than nothing)?? Even some leg lifts or planks or butt lifts. I mean just to get your body temp, circulation up. I try to do at least 100-200 of each everyday (sets of 20-30, break, do next exercise and repeat until kaputt)
@NathanielWise
@NathanielWise 2 жыл бұрын
could definitely try that! good idea

Nathaniel you just look great I wish someone would advance you as a TV Star. This storm you was in extended to Nevada though we did not have rain. Good also to see you are safe I was concerned one of your camping girl friends got you into trouble. Lots of places near Las Vegas to set up come visit. Lake Mead
