Bring your Lysol spray into the shower area with you. I've been camping since the 70's, and when using public showers, I always spray the floors, walls and handles and shower curtain. Let it sit on there for a few minutes, then start your shower to wash down the residue before stepping in. Congratulations on your first campfire and smelling like smoke! Good to see you again. I really think a big part of your grey tank issue is you're not dumping enough. You cook every day all those food particles, grease, whatever is sitting in that tank. You should dump more often, and before you go to dump put some hot water with dawn in there and let it splash around while you drive. Might be good to empty it, fill with hot water and baking soda, or bleach, or vinegar. Let it sit and splash around for a day then rinse it out. Maybe do that process on your day off, but you should be dumping every 3 days at least. Think about your broccoli water sitting on the counter for a week. That along with everything else you boiled is sitting in that tank until you empty it. If it's full you're definitely not emptying it enough with all the cooking you do. When it gets full you're shower is the first place it will come up in. So even though you don't use it that drain might need something hot run through it also. Maybe Google dump stations near you to find places convenient to dump more regularly. You'd be surprised where they might be. Did I sound repetitive, good, because you need to dump more often. Good luck with better maintenance it should stop smelling. See you next time ✌🏾🤞🏾👍🏾❤️

Hi! Old camping lady here. When you run your black tank hose (sewage) to the in ground receiver, the hose should be as straight as possible with the hose on a down decline to the receiver as the tank hasn’t a pump and works in gravity. If there’s a sag in it the sewage gets stuck in the hose at the lowest point and can cause a mess. Notice your neighbors had theirs on a “bridge. Those are nice if you’re going to be there for a bit but not required. We carried 2” x 10” boards cut to size and propped ours when necessary. No fuss, no muss and the boards were handy for other things. Love your videos! Happy camping! ❤️

Congrats on your first ever camp fire 🔥.
@colleenv20912 жыл бұрын
Trying to be helpful….❤….for your stinky grey water tank. While you’re in the campground and all hooked up, I would flush your grey water tank a couple of times. Just draining it doesn’t get rid of the nasty gunk that settles and coats the tank. Shut the drain hose , put the fresh water hose in your sink and fill the tank, then open the drain hose. This will also clean your drain hose and also keep your tank sensors working. You might consider adding some Rv anti freeze to your tank for freezing weather. Keep a cover on your shower drain. Nothing smells worse than grey water.

Congrats on your first fire, more you make the better they will get, one thing I'd get a pair of work gloves and a small fire poker. I prefer to build my fire like a log cabin rather then a teepee. Spiders are indeed the worst. I heard of a woman on the news who got flesh eating bacteria from a spider bite, so I don't blame Ms. Nomad for being afraid of them, whether ex-military or not! But I agree that her reaction was comical. However, remember Indiana Jones (played by Harrison Ford)? Despite all his bravery, he was really afraid of snakes. We all have our particular "frights." I am particularly grossed out over big water beetles, but they are probably harmless compared to so many other insects.

It was funny, but Veterans are Humans first. You never know if a Spider is poisonous and there are so many. My Grandfather fought in the Korean War and couldn't stand to see a roach. He wasn't afraid, but if we saw one at a Park near the tables cooking out or anywhere else he would literally turn a table over trying to kill it. It was hilarious & scary because he meant business, so we knew to get out of his way. 😆

Hello!!, I just want to share with you an alternative to using that drain/ tank deodorizer and that would be using a septic tank cleaner which would eat up all the solid bacteria that's causing the smell, and go to a car wash where there should be a pressure hose and stick it down the drain(s) while you have the drain plug open on the outside flushing all that gunk out of there. Hope this helps!!😉👍

So glad to see you happy and your beautiful smile.I did notice something that you need to correct. I don't mean any harm, but your sewer line is going uphill, and there is a dip in the hose. Without a macerator pump you cannot go uphill. You have to use gravity to drain your sewer line. All the water and poo are going to settle in the lowest point of the sewer line. You need some kind of sewer hose support. You can get one at Walmart for about 30 to 50 dollars. Changing the subject this was a great video. Your meal looked fabulous as always. If I would eat the things that you do, I might lose some weight. My husband and I enjoy all your videos. Thanks for sharing part of your life!

You need to flush your tank. Hook up your fresh water hose, using a nozzle, bring into van. Open drain so water will drain outside. Just flush, flush, flush. Make sure valve is open. After flushing sink, go around back and flush grey shower tank. Close valves. Then pour a little dawn and white vinegar in sink and shower. Driving around will make liquids slush around removing grease off walls if tank. Then when tanks full, flush again.

I watched this on 3/1/23 and when you pulled into that KOA in the woods it took me back 75 years ago when my parents and I used to go camping in the woods of NJ where I grew up. We didn’t have a camper of any sort. After unloading our station wagon, Dad put down some foam rubber in the back where Mom and I slept, and he’d string up a hammock for himself. Being Italian, we packed our spaghetti sauce and all the makings of a huge dinner/lunch and then Dad bbq’d hot dogs and hamburgers at night. We played cards and board games. There was a lake there and we sometimes rented a boat. Mom only took her purse onto the boat, and we left the rest of our stuff at the campsite without a worry that someone would steal anything. That’s the country and the time that I grew up in. It’s foreign to us today. We had little money, but we had fun. Your campsite brought back those sweet memories. I enjoy watching your videos, and will binge till I see them all. I wish you well in your travels. Be safe and have fun.❤

There's something very relaxing about sitting fireside. I made my first fire at 40 too lol. Put a pit in my backyard and i just go out there sometimes just to decompress and relax.

The spider's in the shower had me laughing so hard.I thought the shower at those places would be cleaner than that. Spiders don't bother me,scorpions now thats another story. There's nothing like sitting around the fire pit relaxing with a cold beer😌 So glad your experiencing new things.Stay safe😎

Thanks for sharing. The campfire seemed to symbolize the new future you have created for yourself once you fully retire. I am glad you got to rest and enjoy your evening!! Good for you in embracing all parts of the experience. Don't worry; with time and exposure, you will get used to bugs. I was in India for a hot summer, and after that experience, bugs in North America...not so bad.

It takes me a few watches to decide if I like a channel, I’ve watched one gal that seemed to like to show her body, not for me. I just started this channel today and I love this girl. Also, reckless roaming is a great channel too

There’s a couple that says you have to sludge your gray tank with water & a pin sol concoction because food gets stuck. They had someone professionally so their RV gray tanks that were way worst than the black tanks. So they told ppl what to do. You don’t have to waste your money on products that will just mask the smell or possibly cause a build up

What a beautiful area. I just wanted to tell you that I love how even though you're not eating meat you haven't given up flavorful food and you get so creative. I get hungry every time I see what you're cooking lol

I love this series of your shares. “So real”, not sugar coated. And always an explanation of the “how to’s”. I had romantic ideas of doing Van life, at 75 and not in the best of health, I realize it’s not for me. But I enjoy living the experience through you. I think I’ll stick to camping on my back yard😂. Thanks for sharing. God Bless!

Good Morning from Australia ... I can't help wondering if your plumbing to the grey water tank does not have an air trap, ie a "P trap". It is a very simple 100% solution to ANY air coming into your van. If you are not sure about it I can send a link from another helpful RV-er.

The thing is that you go to safe areas. Some of these ladies go where they think they’re safe and it turns out not to be. Introvert does her homework and sets a standard for herself. And she makes me hungry every time I watch her.

I would've skipped the full KOA experience just this time, with that mold in those showers. Especially since you have your own shower. UGH! I can't do nasty showers. Shame on KOA! Besides that, you've inspired me to want to go camping one day. I love the outdoors, I go to a park daily, but have never been camping in my entire life. Love the views!
