well i was there the summer elvis died in memphis. well maybe the people are of a different sort these days. i couldn't wait to leave. i was there 4 months. those people were so unfriendly to the point of harassment. you couldn't say hello to them without them looking at you as if you'd just committed a crime which also didn't register with them either.

As a New Yorker, I laughed when you said it was busy. It was quiet the day you went. It’s so norm to us and it’s crazy how we adapt to the lifestyles of where you live. Oh and you will need to go into a McDonalds or something and buy as well to use the bathroom. Also in the future if you take the wrong train or miss your stop, just cross over to the adjacent side and take the train to where you came from. Hope you enjoyed NYC!

I have always wanted to visit NYC. For me, I wouldn't go to Time Square or anything touristy like that. My thing is experiencing the actual neighborhoods! Harlem (Uptown), Spanish Harlem (East NY), Greenwich Village, SOHO, etc. I'd try the "chopped cheese" sandwich, pizza in Brooklyn, Bodegas up in the Boogie Down Bronx. That's the NYC I want to see!

As a new Yorker, when you said there were so many people I thought it was good you got to see Times Square on a calm day or you may not have gone on. The city was practically empty and calm compared to what a usual day is like. You are brave that's for sure. I can imagine that was very intimidating for someone used to a less crowded environment. It sounds like it was definitely a new experience.

Right!? I'm originally from Chicago so I thought NY wouldn't faze me. Wrong! We went in July and NY did not disappoint! The crowd level was off the charts but I loved every minute of it! We hopped on one of those red tour busses and saw so much! We ate a planet Hollywood, took a ferry to NJ and back. Good times! Can't wait to do it again!

Right. I thought every Health departments in most states check restaurants for code violations. That’s not just a NY thing but yeah, native Jerseyan here from right across the Hudson. Maybe that’s post pandemic NY or that was a w/e morning but if she thought that was a lot of people…it wasn’t really.

I loved seeing your reaction to my city! You navigated your way through the hustle and bustle quite well!Suggestion: When you’re unsure of which way you’re going, step to the side and use the map app on your phone. It definitely will come in handy. When you’re out n about. This feature helps with locating landmarks, restaurants, etc. As for restrooms, it depends on where you are - ie. 34th Street - Macy’s has several and Target is across the street. You can use the map for this, as well. The building that you thought was the Empire State Building is the Freedom Tower. If you have a taste for cheesecake when you come back, go to Junior’s!

NYC is my home city ❤️❤️❤️. Glad you got to explore it. Just a suggestion for anyone visiting their first time. Ive learned from visiting other cities that NYC is pretty big, but have no fear...NYC is a grid, where the Avenues run perpendicular to streets. Once you got that down pack, it's easy to navigate around. Subway system get some getting use too, but the maps are pretty clear. If you make a mistake and get on the wrong one. Just get off on the next stop, cross the platform, and get on the train going the opposite way to get back where you started.

As a native New Yorker I love seeing first time reactions to our city. There's always something unexpected when you're here. Everything comes at you: 10+ different languages being overheard - to an array of international food spots that you want to sample. Oh yeah, the restroom situation - most restaurants have signs indicating Restrooms for Customer Use Only. If you brought something just request the restroom. Great video!

Southern girl here. I’ve always wanted to visit NY. It’s definitely on my bucket list. My first NYer was a guy I met in college who liked me. He loved my TN accent (what accent?? 🤭🤷🏾‍♀️😂). He was so aggressive and forward and wanted to take me home to meet his momma. As a naive 18 year old who’d never been away from home, he intimidated the hell out of me. However, all grown up now, I look back at how cool he actually was! I’m getting there hopefully one day! ♥️🥰

Here are a few suggestions for the next time you grace us with your awesome presence, here in NY. I’m in Soho so my favorite spots tend to be fairly local. I'm sure someone mentioned here that you can always search Yelp for reviews. For Pizza: Prince Street Pizza, John’s Pizza on Bleecker and Artichoke Pizza on MacDougal. Bagels: Russ and Daughters on Houston and Murray’s on 6th Ave. For Ramen: Kyuramen on Union Square and for Dessert: not just for their delightful little cheese cakes but you have to try the world famous ‘cronut’ - it’s a combination croissant and donut at Dominque Ansel’s Bakery on Spring. It’s legendary.

There is no place like New York. When I first moved there, I had so much anxiety from all the people, my senses were in overdrive. But after some time I got used to it. I was located in Massachusetts and the 1st plane that went into the tower had a frequent customer of mine. He was the pilot and also one of the crew members. They were both in my store that morning before heading to Logan Airport in Boston Massachusetts...I remember their order as if it was yesterday! The next time you go to a city you don't know use your phone's GPS to find anything you need within walking distance of your location. Set it on walking/pedestrian mode it will tell you distance and time to get there. I love everytime I go to NYC especially during Christmas itis absolutely beautiful and Times Square is stunning Christmas to New Year's Day. You should have taken the tour bus it shows you places you miss, it tours the entire city and you can get off when you see where you want to go. The park your sitting in is Central Park that is the beginning of it in Lower Manhattan. You couldn't live there you would gain a lot of weight from eating all that good food. I was raised in the country and visited NYC for 3 days to attend a few broadway shows with my daughter. Day 1 - “People live here on purpose?” Day 2 - “I’m feeling lost. Which was is North?” Day 3 - “I think people live here just to eat at Juniors.” Overall opinion: Shocked there was no sweet tea to be found. Everyone is in a hurry. I want to go back to explore a little more. Could never live there but would like to vacation a bit.

When you need to go to the restroom in NYC, search for a nice hotel (they're always the nicest and cleanest). If you don't have that as an option, Starbucks works. So glad that you enjoyed my city, she's a beast and a beauty at the same time... Gotta love NYC ❤

I was at the World Trade site the year after the attack. The building I was in was next door to the " hole" which was still kinda raw. They had set up viewing windows in a room in that building. Pictures of all the victims was wall papered there. I was overwhelmed. So moving. All races and religions were represented there.

💡Pro tip: Get some doggie pads (4 for $1.25 at $Tree) to stand on when drying at those places or campground showers. Easier than balancing on one foot & not touching the floor. Cheap & disposable. Just a thought.

Welcome!! I hope you enjoyed my city! The park where u ate your Churros was Bryant Park very nice especially at night. The 42nd st area is very vibrant at night but drive through it don’t walk by yourself. To use the bathroom go to the big stores like Macys on 34th. You can shop and eat. 9/11 happened while I was in HS and I will never forget it. I miss the old skyline it was very beautiful at night. Native New Yorkers we don’t notice the rush because we stay on the go lol And for authentic Jamaican beef patties you must go to the Bronx or Brooklyn!

Living in the least populated capital city in the US as well as one of the smallest (only 10 square miles), I tend to get overwhelmed and paranoid by larger, busier cities like NY or Detroit, but enjoy watching them in walking videos. Will probably always prefer my quaint walking city, but its fascinating to see how others navigate daily life and the particular vibe and sights of different cities. Thanks for taking me along.

I am a native New Yorker and depending on the area you are in is where you can find bathrooms. Believe it or not you can always find a bathroom or at least from my experiences. All the major transportation hubs have them: Port Authority Bus Terminal, Penn Station, Grand Central Station. The large department store like Macy's Bloomingdales and Nortstrom. The smaller chains have them as well like Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, TJ Maxx although they are sometimes not as nice. Also Bed, Bath and Beyond, Home Depot, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I couldn't wait to move out. At 25 I moved to Maine and I have never been back. It is wonderful but it's for those whom enjoy that kind of crazy fast pace life. as someone who's lived in NYC all their life, it was fascinating seeing it through your eyes. It can be quite intimidating and yes there are a lot of people who live (8 mil) here. But I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. to answer your bathroom question we go to Starbucks, a department store, or if we're really desperate the bathrooms in the larger train stations (Penn and Grand Central) but it's a struggle sometimes, lol.

I love New York! Haven't been there for awhile but I ate my way through it too. All the things you said . . the hustle, the bustle, the food, the walking, the height, the neighborhoods . . .and for me . . . the theatre! Would love to go back. Thanks for letting me tag along on your trip!
