Every time I see these comparison videos, I realize that, although I am born and raised in the USA, I could very easily live in Norway. My ways of thinking and doing match the Norwegian way much more than the USA "standard". (Not to mention that the Nature in Norway, especially the western part, is drop-dead gorgeous!).

Norwegians want their own distance, no one within our personal sphere. Maybe that's why so few have been infected by Cv-19, compared to Italy. We respect the distance of 1.5 meters, but look forward to returning to 5 meters. 🇳🇴

Good interview, but how did you get through that whole thing without even hitting on healthcare at all. Surely that's the biggest difference with being employed. That you are covered, regardless what job you take you aren't beholden to your company to provide healthcare so you are not locked in place by an employer's benefits package. Other than that really good =)

If you have managed to acquire a working knowledge of Finnish you should have no problems learning Norwegian. Norwegian and English are fairly closely related, whereas Finnish is a completely different ballgame.

Interesting comments, thank u for uploading this video! about Janteloven: I have heard about this for many years, of course. However, it has never stopped me from doing anything that I wanted to do. There were other obstacles, yes, but that is NOT because of this silly law. From my point of view, it is more or less a myth. You folks may agree with me or not. If you choose to live by this law , then you will become a victim of it. Your choice! I have NO problems with telling people what I have accomplished in life, I don`t see why this would be inappropriate- likewise, if someone tells me that he or she has a ph.d, why would I be jealous? it is so irrational! also; when it comes to chatting up strangers in the grocery stores or on the bus, maybe I am the not-so-typical Norwegian, because I do it quite often, very often open to chatting. Some small talk never hurts, guys! Of course, I could in theory also have a not-so-good day, be tired/stressed ,then I would be less likely to chat. Another thing is the language BARRIER. Yes, many Norwegians speak good or "fairly good English", but it depends on who you meet. After all, it is their second language. So just be a bit patient and helpful . This is probably the number one factor why Norwegians may come across as "reserved"- of course, some of us are, but also when we have to speak a foreign language, we may be much less spontaneous. Wish you all a nice stay in Norway! greetings from Oslo

@OhNoNotFrank2 жыл бұрын
I don't really think it's because we like to "preserve our own space", but rather a fear of trespassing your space or to bother you that makes us seem a bit standoffish. It's Janteloven in a nutshell. We're as social as any other animal out there, just shy. I just heard that the Norwegians were relieved now that the one meter distance rule for covid was lifted though, so they could get back to their usual five meter distance 😉👍

In norway no guns.People are more civilized.People dont brag about Norway being rich .People dont say they are no 1 as they do in US which is total lie.Transporatation system is well managed in norway opposite to US.Crime is 100% less then US.Percapita income is way higher then US and HUman development is uncomparable as US is way down!!So overall living in Norway is more benefitial to US citziens then living In US interms of peace, free education,good health care, better quality of life and better hourly wage!!

Free healthcare dont equal good healthcare. If that was so we would never have privat healthcare aswell here.
@PronatorsaurusTricepsus4 жыл бұрын
@Gayle Elizabeth Ive actually never heard of anyone in Norway going to the US for healthcare. Have heard of going to other countries for exprimental treatment though. But we have some really good privat hospitals here that people go to when they can afford it. I go to one. The cost for a normal doctor visit is maybe around 4x what you pay in "deductible"(i think this is the english word) at the public healthcare, but instead of waiting for months to get to see a specialist you are in within a day or two. Or when you risk sitting 12 hours+ at the emergeny Room you get in within a hour tops.

@patriotretiree9034 жыл бұрын
@@hansjoachimlarsen4294 - There are actually quite o few foreign politicians and world leaders who come to the States for medical treatment. It is usually for a life-saving surgery, such as a brain tumor or a quadruple bypass. It may have nothing to do with quality; it may be for security and privacy reasons.

Avtually, there are more firearms per person in norway than in the usa. Most farmers have shotguns zand rifles and a lot of norwegians are members of the «heimevern» or local army and many are members of local firearm communities. We just dont shoot each other.

+ A lot is wrong. You must not take vacation for 4 weeks or 5 weeks if you are 60 years old. "Holiday allowance" is not 10% of your salary, but salary for the month you are not working - tax free. If you choose to work then you will be paid twice for that month. How much you wont to job its a relation between you and the company you work for. Only limit its 200 ours overtime every year - More if you are a keyperson.
