I just came from Portugal and loved it. I actually want to start a business there I have been running pretty succesfully in the USA. Nothing i saw told me that it would be a bad place to do business but i keep hearing Portugal has low wages and a bad economy. I was just wondering what the business landscape is looking there becasue im sold on everything else?

Well, it depends on the business. Some people do have successful businesses in Portugal, so it is definitely not impossible to make it. Costs will be lower than in the US but so will be the revenue. Depending on where you are coming from in the US, you can expect to earn as low as 3 to 5 times less for doing the exact same activity in Portugal.

@@traveleconomics Woah 3 to 5 times less that seems so extreme? i am actually from a pretty low income part of the USA. I run a tennis school but my lessons arent super highly priced but I guess it may all depend. I think in Lisbon, Estoril, Cascais etc their will probably be even more people in my target niche then my current area now in the USA.

@@thetennisjournal Yeah considering you are from a low income region in the US and assuming you manage to establish your presence in Estoril, Cascais, you won't feel that much the price difference. Estoril and Cascais are among the wealthiest places in all of Portugal.

Love your content can you please make a video for permanent residency by study in Europe as many people want to study but also don't have the financial means for business keep up the hard work.

Thank you. Studying abroad is not really the topic of the channel but if you want to do it in Europe and don't have the financial means the way to go is to get a scholarship.

@@traveleconomics thank you for your response but what I mean is that people who are in their 20s often don't have the financial means to buy or start their business therefore often people study abroad in Europe as a means to move. I think by doing a video like this you can attract a younger demographic to you channel. Love your content ❤️ in any case

@@MsHamza360 studying is also expensive, you need to have some money. If you don't have any money I would recommend building skills in high demand such as data science or nursing in your home country and then you can easily land a job abroad, or at least fund your studies abroad.

Very very expensive to buy property there , I was shocked with prices when i back from there from Algarve when I had two weeks holiday
@traveleconomics
@traveleconomics 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, property is expensive, and also doesn't make much sense from an investment standpoint, as the rental yields are low. It is only good if you want to live in the property. Nevertheless the cost of living is affordable (excluding the property prices).

Hi @traveleconomics , you and I spoke about the German Criminal Records Check. It took 8 weeks to arrive. The german paper quality was so bad, Kosovo thought is was fake. Kosovo gave me the working visa eventually. Now I am waiting 8 weeks already for the Kosovo plastic ID Card. What I am saying is: Plan months to years ahead for getting documents from governments. They are getting slower and slower.

Bureaucracy in Germany is very inefficient, pretty much the opposite of their engineering. But in general, it is always a good idea to get the certificate of clean criminal record before you leave your country (regardless of your country of origin), especially if the country of destination require an apostille with a translation. I am glad you successfully made your move!

what is the best city or Village to buy property and live with kids in Portugal ?

It depends on what you like. I prefer milder climates so the center and north of Portugal are more appealing to me. I like Braga, Coimbra, Aveiro.

This video makes Portugal look even more attractive than I had thought. As Bart Simpson would say if he spoke Portuguese: "Passarela!" ("Gangway!")
