I have an American friend who lives in UAE, he’s always saying that “this is my home I don’t want to go back” he was brainwashed that Middle East is very bad, now he’s muslim and married to a muslim woman, and he’s saying that he’s the luckiest person in the world with this change of life

I visited Saudi Arabia three times last year, 9 cities in total. I have travelled to 51 countries and can say that Saudi Arabia is up there with Singapore as the safest country in the world. Saudi families picnic in the parks up till 2 am and it's lovely to see. Apart from one or two beggars, who I don't think were Saudi, nobody bothers you. In fact, when I was walking back to my hotel in Taif an elderly gentleman and his grandson tried to strike up a conversation with me and invited me back to their house for food, "Come home, come for food." However, as I was so full from eating at the stalls in the bazaar area, I had to politely decline their kind invitation. I was really gutted about that. The cities that I visited were Jeddah, Medina, Mecca, Taif, Abha (Khamis Mushayt) Jizan, Al-Khobar, Dammam, and Riyadh. Cheers.

Honestly, Smiley OFWs are among the most beloved people not just in Saudi Arabia but ALL OVER THE WORLD. Simply for their discipline, love and dedication to their jobs, modesty, respect to other cultures, social and outgoing, very honest when it comes to (getting paid what you owe them) because they are not greedy and very flexible when it comes to bargaining with them. I'm a Saudi and I have another Saudi colleague at work who's married to a Filipina. He's a very happy camper 🤍

Saudis are honest good family people in general , much more ''normal '' compared to what we see in western societies these days . I'm Saudi and have been living in the Lone Star State, Texas, for the past six years. I love both places; however, Saudi is by far a safer place. Thankfully, nothing scary has happened to me here, but the idea that 9 out of 10 cars on the street have guns makes me shiver. Add to that the recent shooting at Allen Outlet, a place where I usually shop and meet friends. I really wish major action will be taken in regard to this issue. Anyway, welcome to Saudi David. Hopefully one day you will get a chance to bring your son to Saudi.

Best action you can do is buy a gun so you can protect yourself and your family from criminals. Unfortunately US law is very nice to criminals whereas in Saudi justice is quick and strong. I was shocked when I went to Saudi and found people left their doors and cars unlocked with the windows down and their stuff inside. I asked why people do that and what about thieves they said "who will lose a hand for a phone?"

@@hajjdawood That doesn't sound true at all. While Saudi certainly feels very safe from serious violent crime, the theft is out there. I know people who had their actual cars stolen and used for drifting in the desert, where they found it crashed and rusted. It was the 2000s so maybe that's harder now with the ubiquitous street cameras.

I agree. I've been living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia full time for the last three years and was here for four years prior. It's safer than my hometown of Orlando, FL by quite a bit. I live on a Western compound with a large swimming pool, restaurant, and other facilities. The driving is changing with more rules, more cameras, and with the police occasionally pulling you over for following to closely or passing on the shoulder. If someone has a chance to work here, for good money, I would recommend it.

My dad lived in Texas for 20 so years, and the rest of our family lived there for approximately 6. Houston TX is by far one of the safest cities, but even then I wouldn't give up my life in Dammam for it. I think the US is great, but the safety I feel as a Saudi woman in my own country surpasses the urge to explore a different country. Perhaps I'm biased (most definitely biased haha), but I think with good reason. I also realized that many southerners find Saudi pleasant and it may be because of its conservative nature.

The driving is crazy. Make sure to look both ways because they will drive the wrong way… even on highways lol. Kids sitting in the window while the car is moving or standing in the sunroof while dad is driving… You can see someone driving with a newborn in their arms, no car seat and to them it’s no problem but it’s them being naive, they truly don’t know as they don’t have the same laws and upbringing as we’ve had in the states. Im a native New Yorker and been living in KSA since 2012 and one of the first things I noticed was the driving. I remember saying to my husband how much Allaah is protecting these people and how it’s amazing that there aren’t MORE accidents. 11 years later I still feel the same. As for the people and the safety though… it can’t be beat. I have no problem sending one of my sons out to the store in the middle of the night. No gangs, no drunks on the corner, no heroine addicts about to fall over, no drunk driving, no thugs milling about looking for a fight. I’ll never get used to the driving or the 115 degree weather but I couldn’t imagine my 5 kids living in the U.S. All the school shooting, drugs and pronouns… they can keep it.

I’m an American having lived in KSA. For most parts I agree with this gentleman. KSA can be a very pleasant place to stay extensively. However, “where would you like to live” is a fundamentally wrong question for an American. If you see it from our point of view, it is because for most of the cases, we don’t need visa to travel to many countries, a flight ticket cost is usually not significant for an American, and many people speak English.). I can count cons and pros but they will be from an American expat angle, may not be much valid for a local Saudi. What I adore about KSA is the glimmer of hope about future in Saudis eyes, whoever you speak too. That’s priceless.

It's not just SA it's other cultures that are strong around the sense of community and family. America is a very individualistic culture but other countries foster a culture of community.
