We are Dominic and Emma. Travelling together as a couple for the last 10 years, we started off backpacking through South East Asia and in 2016 began vanlife as a means to travel with our pug, Percy. After years of van travel around Europe, and then Japan, we have taken the plunge to move to Chiang Mai Thailand, something we had always wanted to do. Now we're working as teachers in Chiang Mai and we plan to show you everything Thailand!

Great vid - lovely to see your new home, Percy and that Emma is feeling better. Would definitely be interested in learning more about the practicalities and costs of living in Chaing Mai. Being an old geezer, I would be interested in living somewhere like Chaing Mai for extended periods during the European winter! I only visited during the cool, dry season so am looking forward to seeing what life is like once the rains come, it gets hotter and the fires start. Keep up the good work!👍

It really is. We don't hear the planes inside really and as CNX is a smaller airport, so they are not too frequent!

That house is a great find. Very nicely furnished and comfortable, a 'proper' kitchen, and lots of storage. I hope we can find one as nice when we arrive with our cat.

The only part of Thailand I'm familiar with is Bangkok, so it will be educational to lesrn more about Chiang Mai and the northern psrt of the country. Paying only $500/month for that size of a house is insane. Maybe you could do some specific videos in the future about the various craft beers there. Cheers!

Fantastic video guys. Planning to move there, from Toronto, in the fall. Where in CM is this? Was on Reddit asking folks about the pros and cons between Hang Dong & Nimma and a lot of the responses were how I should check out Suthep and Wat Ket

Thanks! And this is Mae Rim, it’s a bit out of the way I don’t know that I’d necessarily recommend it unless you have a car and/or want to be a bit out of town. Suthep had a lot of new bits going on, I think if we moved to CM again we would probably go there, nimman is great if you want to be in the absolute thick of it, Hang Dong would probably be one of the easiest places to find good accommodation! Everywhere has its good points, I’d recommend going and getting a feel for each of the places if you can before you commit to an area! 😊

This is our second time bringing Percy to Thailand but we felt exactly the same the first time around! Once you get your head around the paperwork, it’s actually relatively simple so don’t worry! Maybe we’ll make a video to talk people through the process. Thanks for the idea 💡

We loved living there but tbh burning season got to us, I was constantly ill with bronchitis and my lungs got so bad that I had to keep going to hospital. Kind of gutted!

Fast forward 3 months and we found one incredible house with 4 bedrooms and a large yard. I am loving Chiang Mai already, we lost a few homes because we hesitated but as we got closer, we were ready to make the deposit. It is excited when you find something decent and thanks for your video. We waited and found a great place!

Living in Australia, Sydney has said to be the most expensive place in housing market , where we've lived for the past 25+ years. But as the kids started their own families, they realised it's not possible for them to stay (even rent) in Sydney, so another State is the only option 💔

@@AlwaysAway We have a sizeable house that could host their families, but not as sizeable as they could have their own quarters & entrances, so it's understandable that their better half don't really like the offer, so moving away to another State is the only solution... Anyway, that's just part of life, as how we had moved away from our hometown to Sydney and only visited our extended families 1 week a year...

Hey , Nice home ! I'm moving to Chiang Mai around May this year . Been looking into getting a House instead of a Condo , so that I can have a garden and a garage . During my stay last year I was hearing that there are a lot of bugs on ground floor homes and apartments . Question to you is do you guys see bugs inside your home ? Cheers !

Hey, Thanks! In this house we never see bugs, we get the odd gecko in the bathroom but that’s all. And we have the doors open a lot of the time too. When we lived in Phayao in an older house we got cockroaches in the kitchen once and saw more bugs. I’d say it largely depends on build quality and location, but it’s not been an issue for us at all and this is a 7 year old house so relatively new. Hope you find somewhere nice! 😊

It’s nice to have our own space, especially outdoor space as we have never had a garden since living together for the last 9 years. There are charities supporting street dogs but for the most part, they just roam around. Most are actually friendly around our area, but this isn’t always the case as we found when we viewed another house 🏠 🐕

A lot of people live in Hang Dong, just on the south of the city, I’d probably recommend looking there 😊 nimman and the north eastern part of the city is where we always get stuck in traffic 😅

Hey! Thanks for subscribing! 🥰 we’ve brought Percy here twice now and both times flown with the star alliance group in cabin, we’ve flown with Austrian, Lufthansa and Swiss before. If they’re under 8kg you can fly with them and they sit by your feet in a carrier. Admittedly Percy is 10kg but I managed to get on with him every time. Getting to Thailand is very easy you just need to email the importing people and get an import permit along with a health certificate in your home country 48 hours before flying. To have him on the flight I paid £120 so really affordable! We are very lucky he was just the right size. How big is your pup?

He flew in cabin with Austria! He’s also flown in cabin with Lufthansa and Swiss air, you need certain paperwork to enter Thailand but it’s pretty easy once you know the bits you need , I can make a video explaining in detail 😊

We love northern Thailand. We used to live in Phayao, so often went to Chiang Rai. This time, we thought we would try to be in a more central area but still enjoy the nature of northern Thailand 🇹🇭

It was £10 for the meal which included the bag, but normally meals are around £4.50.

You just need a Bachelor’s to work in a school at the bare minimum. So a bachelors is three years in the UK. But if you want better jobs, you need additional qualifications or be a qualified teacher in your home country 🇬🇧 🎓
