Sis, I first off you are BEAUTIFUL. But this is egregious. And I'm actually mad for you. I see you being a Program Manager, Customer Success Manager, Learning & Development Specialist, or Implementation Specialist somewhere in Tech that can translate your love for teaching, just in a different space. There's also several Ed-Tech startups and Tech companies overall that will pay you what you're worth in those positions, like $100k+. And you DESERVE it!!!
@travelvideoz9 ай бұрын
You seem to glorify tech. The tech market is brutal and "managers" will be the first to go in a lay off time. Also, how do you manage people when you do not have any skills in tech? I am an MLE and even I cannot get a job right now, despite having experience. The idea that tech jobs pay you 100k plus is also not realistic. Outside of FAANG, many jobs pay between 65-99k.
@meshap.87139 ай бұрын
@@travelvideozI’m not sure what your background is but having worked in Tech I can tell you that it’s VERY possible to make 100k. And being a Customer Success Manager doesn’t mean you’re “managing” people and I would suggest looking up job descriptions and or career options mentioned outside of the experience or knowledge you have about the field. I know the Tech job market is brutal, but it’s still not impossible to build a career there and succeed. You might be devaluing yourself as well and not privy to what’s actually out there and possible. She has the experience as a Program Manager and could be a Project Manager, Product Manager, and a host of other options if she too could see the possibilities outside of focusing on just “passions” where she has to work 3 jobs to make that and only go with what she may only be aware of. Again, maybe it’s not working out for you but sis could be and should be making around 100k with her experience, and If not in Tech, there’s other fields where it’s VERY possible. You just gotta expand your horizons and open your mind. The problem isn’t that she’s solely making $65,000. It’s that it’s doing 3 jobs to get there when she shouldn’t have to AND has a Master’s degree. SHE’s QUALIFIED!!!

@MeMe-pg3ei9 ай бұрын
@@missdesireindependance5194 I get that it's a stable industry and one I've thought about as well.However, I don't even think it's so much the $65,000 with her living in Houston (which isn't bad) but her working 3 jobs in order to get there. If she was working 3 jobs and at 100k+, that's different. But I can't and will not wrap my mind around that being the only option IF her goal is to pay down debt and still sustain her lifestyle. She'd be better off making cuts in certain spending areas than burning herself to the ground. Plus, she's too qualified and regardless if she's "passionate" about her job, it shouldn't come at the expense of her quality of life. And Tech isn't so much the problem. I think people keep looking in the same places with tech jobs as if it's not a vast field. I'd avoid the FAANG companies but still look at plenty of other options and job roles that she can apply her skills set to. Seriously, she deserves sooo much more. That's all.

Everyone is commenting on this woman (she is gorgeous BTW) and I totally do agree that she needs to be earning six figures with her degree and her experience. I hope she'll see the comments and KNOW that she can go out in to the world and ask for more and receive it. Unfortunately she's grappling with what many Black women deal with - we have to be twice as good to get half as much. Black women are often saddled with student loan debt - because without the degrees (and often multiple degrees) we won't be even considered for the job. I work in a predominately white male "prestige" field and despite my years of experience, Masters degree and multiple credentials I've regularly encountered this phenomena. I totally understand and relate to what she is experiencing and pray this woman can find a six figure job that values her experience and work ethic

This video didn't reveal what degrees she has. If she has degrees in African studies, then should an employer be obligated to pay her a six figure salary? I agree that people (not just Black women) get degrees in fields that don't lead to anything. Young people need to be educated about what degree choices pay. I encourage college students to research the first 10 years of expected salary in their fields before committing. If they don't like the numbers, switch majors and careers

Okay, the great news about her story is that she is making it on her terms. She is not trying to get wealthy. Her version of the American Dream is to be debt-free and "to live life" on her own terms. There is nothing wrong with what she is doing. I am proud of her ability to be satisfied with her life and she is not trying to be like the JONESES... Everybody's dreams are different. I like that she is happy with her life. It would be great if everyone was happy with their lives instead of hoping to be something else. If your dreams are different, more power to you. There is nothing wrong with her version of what makes her happy.

The irony is that grandmother who made the comment, her life more likely went like this: She and her husband both had high school diplomas. Her husband got a job straight after high school and she was a stay at home mom. They bought a modest house on his single salary in their 20s and they raised three kids on the salary, before retiring on social security and maybe even a pension if the husband had a manufacturing job that was unionised. They really have no clue what society is like for millennials …

@LightskinKing338 ай бұрын
@@munaali840 Yes I don’t believe bill Clinton should have gotten the government involved in providing loans to students. That heavily inflated the pricing of schools. Like you mentioned he was able to get the government involved because student loans now became something you could not remove with bankruptcy. Now that they are involved and knowing these prices are heavily inflated, one must decide if what they’re going for will give a proper ROI to justify going to college. Not just wait for the government to bail people out that continuously make bad choices.
