Her parents are the way parents should be. They are not tossing her out at 18, they are supporting her while she stays with them and I am sure she will go on her own once she feels stable enough. People laughed at me because I stayed with my parents until I was 30. I helped them with bills, but they were very supportive of me. Now those friends that laughed at me and just had to move out at 18 are struggling to pay rent, while I own a home.

I also see this as a case to case scenario. They are supporting because she clearly also going after and doing something that is working. I do think it is different if she was just playing video games everyday and not trying to build herself up or her own life. I stayed with my mom till 29 but I had been working the moment I left school and it was a win win since my mother also had cancer and my dad passed suddenly when I was 18. So I was also helping around the house while also building my career.

@@_ohky Hopefully, you will be, but I'm sure there are hundreds of other stories which are better because she basically had it handed to her. Daddy has connections with the factories in China, actually was doing business with them. Then daddy put up the money that was required -- after losing thousands on her other project. If you look at the details, it's not that impressive. Neporeneur. Hate on me all you want but just about everyone would succeed with this kind of leg up. You disagree with that assessment? The toughest parts of creating a business -- raising money and finding trustworthy factory who will build your products -- were handed to her on a platter. Sorry, I don't think it's that great. Try succeeding without that and see how far you get.

Even if her Father helped her with a connection, she came up with the idea. She puts in the equivalent of a part time job while going to school full time. She obviously got good grades in high school since she got a scholarship. Too many of us can not be happy…even for a child. Bella, it takes all kinds to make the world go round. SMH that’s everyone’s excuse, they can’t succeed in life cuz they had poor parents and no connections. It’s ridiculous, her parents weren’t millionaires, they most likely just middle class living in the suburbs. They provided her the basic minimum of what a parent should provide to their child which is a SAFE, STABLE, AND SUPPORTIVE home. Bravo to her and her business. I love the idea and that her product serves a good purpose - not another "thing" to clutter up one's life and space. She's incredibly smart and understands business better than some MBA students. Snaps to her family for supporting her in all the ways. The profit comments in the chat are valid. Folks get wowed by revenue, but part of having a successful business is supporting it and your workers, which requires making a profit. She said she employs a small staff, but the expense calculation didn't include those numbers. Her profits are lower if she's paying them from the remaining $100K. (CNBC doesn't do the full math). Also, she's not paying herself - I think a bad move for most, but given her situation, she's better off financially keeping her income very low - doesn't have to contribute to her education, etc (note U of Chicago is a loan-free university). She's the poster girl for strategic planning and maximizing what she has. Love it!

@@zcnaipowered7407 you missed the point. The barrier to entry for hundreds of random Americans attempting to do this is that if they just fly to China and use Google translate to pitch this idea to a Chinese factory owner, they’d get fleeced out of the initial deposit and laughed at. China operates on “guanxi”. Google this word. They give heavy weight to personal relationships in business. That’s how you get anything done over there.

This is a perfect example of how luck, aka the difficulty setting your life is set to, is the most important factor to your success or failure. I started a business on both Amazon and Ebay more than 15 years ago, back when Ebay was bigger than Amazon. I bought and sold products that dozens of other sellers and stores were selling, but I kept getting flagged and shut down, whereas they were allowed to continue selling. No matter how many times I appealed, I got rejected. I was literally not allowed to do it. But this girl starts a company over a decade later and is allowed to run it no problem.

So in reality she is NOT self-made. Born with a wealthy parents who have connections in China to manufacture her products. She didn't come from a poor underprivileged upbringing. She didn't reach out and did hundreds of hours of research to search for manufacturers. She didn't work at McDonalds and save thousands of dollars to finance her business. All these things dropped on her lap with not much effort, thanks to her wealthy parents and well connected business partnership in China.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest hurdles with being successful on Amazon is the factories you use steal or sell your product ideas, then undercut you on Amazon and sell them as your brand name at half the price. I deal with this everyday, and it is exhausting. Amazon does not care, as they are making money no matter who sells the product, counterfeit or not. Good luck, and protect your brand as well as you can!
