Living on a sinking island |

The sea level in the Philippines is rising three times faster than the global average according to a study done by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
In the second episode of Look Through’s climate change series, INQUIRER.net’s Neil Mercado visits an island in Bohol that is feared to be being slowly swallowed by the sea. The clock is ticking. Until when can the people still call it home?

Its a nature reclamation....ang island na yan at under water thousand of years before...ang Earth plates is slowly moving...kaya naiiba ang formation sa ilalim ng dagat...lumulubog na ang island...the best way....mag relocate na ang mga nakatira dyan.... Sa ayaw o gusto ninyo.....lulubog na Yan....maaaring mabilis o mabagal.

nakapunta na ako sa island na ito, mga year 90's. sa Dolera's family. it was nice and beautiful place daghan kinhason... i miss it.

Land Subsidence! More like the geological processes, the spreading of the ocean floor or in this case the effect of subduction due to the area / region besides the earthquakes and or volcanoes thus land is sinking thus flooding.

Are you sure ? The Philippines is on the edge of “the ring of fire “ where the movement of the tectonic plates may well be causing a sinking of islands just as it also be causing the opposite . What is the opinion of Geological experts ?
