Thank you for the video. I have been preparing for hard times since covid. I watch many videos with this type of content and get more tips that are valuable . I constantly hear that some viewers are saying that we lack faith if we store food. Gosh ! the truth is that they lack wisdom and they don"t read the bible. I really appreciate how kindly you explained why you store food.

Years ago, my kids laughed at my cans under the beds. But we never had to panic during a snowstorm or power outage. Tina

A "skirt" attached to a coordinating round pillow can camouflage 5-gallon buckets. A pallet-wood bench or sofa table can be easily made for several buckets to fit under it. Rigid foam insulation can provide the added dark and thermal break from regular room temperatures that stored goods require.

You could use vinegar jugs for your water. They are heavy duty. I have never had one leak.

I like your storage ideas in the closet area! I'm concerned about the water jugs under the bed. Those are notorious for leaking. I recently found some of mine that had completely leaked out. What a mess! I don't use those for long term water storage any longer.

Oh wow, I'm so sorry to hear about yours leaking! My thought was to rotate them out every so often, so not long term storage, but always on hand (if that makes sense). We have a Berkey water filter that I empty and allow to dry out every time we go on vacation and so often turn to a jug of water when we get home while I clean and re-prime the Berkey. We also usually buy jugs when we stay at a vacation rental or hotel, so I thought we could bring these to use instead and replace them with the ones we buy. That way the jugs aren't sitting for more than 6 months or so without being replaced. Definitely better options out there for longer term! I'd love to get some of the big bladders they make. Just got to make more space to store them filled until we get a house.

What I found instead of the 1 gallon containers sold at the grocery store was a squat 4gal blue container made by reliance. Because it’s squat it fits under the plumbing to the back of the space underneath our bathroom sink (2 fit there).

I agree with you exactly. Jesus provides for me in all things and I wouldn’t be capable of caring for myself or my family without Him. I’m not worried and I do understand why some may say planning is not necessary if you trust God but, it is prudent, and biblical, to plan for possibilities and if He takes us home before we need it, someone else will benefit from what’s left behind. Who knows, maybe your prepping is His plan for someone else 🕊💙 Edit: I just realized this video is from 3 years ago. I hope you’re well.

Olive oil is the best! I'm trying to stock up every trip. You'll need a fat if SHTF and its the best in my opinion. I also have a small house but I'm making due 😉 its called an apartment but I call it a very small townhouse. You can get very creative

I love olive oil! The tricky thing is that it does go rancid, so proper storage and rotation is key. I've been working to build our storage with a variety of healthy fats (ghee, butter, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, & home rendered lard) to be sure to vary the nutrition. Also, something to keep in mind is that if SHTF and the only way to cook is over fire, it will oxidize the olive oil really quickly making it harsh on the body, so having other options with a high smoke point would help there. Definitely a great fat to have on hand though for low temp cooking, salad dressings, and drizzling after cooking (mmmm, now I'm craving popcorn). So glad to hear you're making do in your space! I feel like small spaces force us to get creative, but that is definitely not a bad thing--way to go building resiliency and overcoming obstacles (some would let small spaces stop them)!

Honestly, I just kind of sprinkle a little bit (maybe a couple tablespoons in each layer) as I fill the bucket. So I fill it maybe 1/ 3 of the way, sprinkle some, a little more, sprinkle more, and then the rest and sprinkle some on top...and I lightly mix it in to each layer--totally eyeballing everything. If there's a better rule or method, I'm all ears!
