For anyone interested in more history and info on International, it is known well through rural America (but especially rural Illinois, where I am from) for their tractors as well as trucks. The tractor brand lives on as CaseIH, which is John Deere's biggest competitor. International sold the IH department to Case tractor, and many of the employees of the ag division stayed on to work for the new company. Then later CaseIH merged with New Holland to form CNH industrial. So the IH side of International is still very much alive through the red tractors on the countryside, despite now being separate from International trucks (Navistar)

I just got my cdl and was assigned an international tractor. It feels cheap and is definitely my last pick out of the brands but that truck looks awesome. They used the same airbrake system, dash setup, control panels and everything from their semis. Pretty cool!

to be honest, i hated driving the new freightliners at work, but i loved the old international we had. while the interior wasn't as good or comfortable, the power in the engine was leaps and bounds better than any of the freightliners we had.

@diabloein yeah since I posted this I drove the freightliner and couldn't stand the violent shaking it did at low speeds. I prefer the international over it. Still would rather have a kenworth or Volvo

@@houndddogsss for me, it wasn't even the shaking. just the power output and gear selection of the 12 speed auto on the 2022 freightliner was garbage. thing couldn't even go up a 6 degree incline without slowing down because it wouldnt shift to maintain power and when taking off fully loaded from a stop it wanted to start in 5th and then would constantly skip gears keeping it as slow as possible. took me 2 miles to get up to 60MPH. the international only took about a half mile to get to the same speed. now, my 2010 freightliner with the cummins engine and the 10 speed manual i have now is a beast and a half. one of the fastest trucks i have ever driven. sad teh engine finally gave out after 1.6 million miles.

@@diabloeinthat 12 speed shifts for fuel efficiency not drag racing.
@diabloein Жыл бұрын
@fernandosantiago1679 that may be, but it needs appropriate gear selection. Deciding to start in 5th gear when fully loaded is an asinine decision. Had to stop on a hill and couldn't get the truck moving, it actually started rolling backwards while I was full throttle. Had to stop, put it into manual gear selection, select 3rd, and then start going again to finally get it to move forward. Then the dang thing didn't want to keep shifting up. Got stuck with a max speed of 20 on a 50mph road until I was able to get to a safe place to stop, turn off the truck, and restart it. Was so stupid. Lived my 10 speed manual 2014 freightliner. Did 75MPH and had great power and acceleration. Sad the engine gave up at 2 million miles
