Agreed, One of the very few cars which even 10+ years later do not look dated in the slightest

I on was on the fence about getting on of these until I watched this video 2 years ago. I got the M sport one. Had a few issues with glow plug control module, turbo actuator and DPF. Luckily I’ve a mechanic friend that does everything for a few pints so bills are always low considering. I don’t drive that eco and get about 28/30 MPG mix of motorway and city. Turns out the last owner put €500+ (each corner) shocks on and they really really make the difference. Having a baby soon and I love this car so much I’m buying a 535d to replace. If you’re thinking of getting one do....make sure you bring a computer and run faults. Mate advised the work he’s done would be at least €2000 in the last two years, so that’s something to think about, excluding standard servicing

Glad to hear man! Honestly I was suprised it was more economical than my 330D was! The main thing to remember though its all about the way you drive that effects economy!

+Raihan Hussain you're right on that! Just a shame most the 335d's don't have the signature dual exit exhaust anymore, but I guess that was to make room for the 340i's lol

Great video! Looking at a 335d myself. What's the insurance like? Aware there are lots of factors of course. Just in relation to your previous cars. Thabks.
@ymexclusive93087 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Insurance was actually a big surprise for me as when I was looking at quotes for the 335D, it was actually around the same price as my 330D. I think the biggest suprise I had was when I saw the roadtax was cheaper (on a monthly payment bases) than my 330D!

Which one would you recommend for commuting. E90 330d or this 335d? Running costs ..
@ymexclusive93087 жыл бұрын
If a 335D is within your budget, honestly go for the 335D over a 330D (but depends on if you prefer a higher spec 330d or a lower spec 335D if budget is an issue). They are the same in running costs (actually found my 335D to be slightly better on running costs!). HOWEVER, for day to day driving, it comes down to if you want an M Sport or not. My 330D is a SE model whilst the 335D is an M Sport, the 335D had MUCH heavier steering and a MUCH stiffer ride so it was a lot less comfertable than the 330D (worth mentioning the 330D was on 18" alloys and the 335D was on 19"). Of course the M sport looks amazing but the SE is more comfortable. Personally I would stick with an M Sport just because of the looks and the stiffer suspension means amazing handling

What the mileage on this one,? Have you had to delete the dpf, or block out the egr valve, ??

Key thing to keeping your diesel exhaust system healthy is to drive highway speeds period. I have a 2018 equinox with a 1.6 Turbo Diesel, a 2009 Duramax & 2010 BMW 335D that I just purchased. Been doing some talking with some mechanics who work on these types of motors. They have all indicated that the key is driving highway speed is key. They are not great at making consistently short trips. We commute to work on a freeway which we drive 80 - 85 mph for around 30 minutes. Every mechanic has indicated that we won't ever see an issue because the motors are being allowed to get hot enough to keep the DPF clean. So far so good! At the end of the day I absolutely hate the EGR system. It's an absolute nightmare on the motor. This is where keeping your oil changed really pays off. Fact is now days NOBODY keeps their car for very long. It comes more down to what type of driving you do & you need to be honest with yourself. Owning a diesel just to say I have a diesel is just silly. You really need to look at how many miles you drive & the speeds you will be driving on a daily basis to determine whether or not a diesel is right for you. Don't get me wrong I have had many other Diesel truck before my Duramax & I did all sorts of Mods on them. I can tell you that once you commit to moding out your diesel your committed as some are more permanent than others. My advise is to 1. determine if you need a diesel or not 2. Find a diesel powered vehicle of your choice that you ABSOLUTELY LOVE how it is in stock form 3. Drive & enjoy you new oil burner. I have had diesel vehicles since I graduated high school over 20 yr's ago. I will forever own diesels because I refuse to live in the city. As for the 335D I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this car just the way it is. It has 119k on the odometer & I got an absolute steel on the car. However, in my opinion you need to know a thing or 2 about wrenching on cars unless you have a good bank account taking it to the dealers. I normally recommend the dealership but in my short time of owning this car I have seen the dealership prices on things verses what I can buy online. So I buy on line. I honestly believe their is a great market on these cars that have a 100k because of the dealership prices on maintenance. So if your not afraid to grab a wrench & get some oil on your hands & willing to watch a few youtube vids then I would buy one indefinitely. If not then I would find something else because the delership prices are F*&^%G insane!!! Sorry to ramble on. Please see attached link @ the bottom. I really like this guy. He give good unbiased input. Good Luck Mate!!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWLYfmZ9qd97irc
