What a great and immersive experience! San Pedro is a very cool town. Probably the most authentically local on that side of the lake. I wondered who plays on that basketball court next to the mercado when we walked around there. So cool you got to live there like a local for a couple of weeks.

6:14 Está volando [para allá, not sure about this part] arriba -- It's flying far above a few words that I do not understand estaba subiendo arriba -- It was rising above I assume "chaba" means kite. I don't know what the word is for kite. I would have guessed he was talking about an airplane or bird. I would have asked what thing he was talking about that is flying. I'm advanced, having lectured about science in Spanish and majored in Spanish in college. I think I'm as good as it gets as a Spanish speaker who doesn't practice with family and has only spent 3 weeks in Mexico. Kudos to you for learning as beginners! At all levels, there is always more to learn.

[She]'s flying a kite up there A kite, a big kite [She]'s up there The-- The girl is up there He's letting him know his girlfriend is on the roof flying a kite. It's kinda hard to understand him because he speaks with a heavy mayan tzutujil accent, most likely spanish is his second language. "Chava" is guatemalan slang for a girl or young woman (ages 15 to 30, give or take, there are no hard rules for this). For a boy or young man it would be "chavo". If you are younger, you are a "chavita". If you are older, you are a "señora".

Hi I really like your video, my daughter wants to learn one of the 25 I believe dialects that are spoken there, do you know if they have that available? The dialect is Quiche.

After a quick search, I wasn't able to find any. I would recommend researching which town in Atitlan speaks that dialect. Then, I would see if they have any language schools there and call them to see if one of the spanish teachers also speaks that dialect.

San Pedro (and Guatemala in general) is one of the safest places we've ever traveled and it's one of the reasons why we love this country so much. This two week period was one of the few times in the entire year where we didn't even think about our safety. It's a rare feeling and something we don't take for granted.
