You are an AWESOME man Sir.My brother had schizophrenia for 20 years before dying aged 35 , his illness was and still is the toughest thing we had to deal with mental illness doesn't affect the sick only but their family mrmbers too nut LOVE has a huge role to ease the journey, so seeing how you stuck around Doris , is really something speacial.

you did a great job and your love to her was so big and immense that it touched us who heard your story. I've been in touch with a number of mental illnesses, depressives or obessives, these people are rather OK to handle, but schizophrenics and persecutory delusives are toughest to deal with, since there are occasions they simply lost their mind completely (living in delusions) and you can do nothing, that's really tough for the family and I wholeheartedly sympathize their plights. what I can do somehow is just to listen to those family members who want someone to talk with and blah everything out. That's basically what I could do for them.

“I am deeply grateful with the uplifting wonderful comments on our love story - Doris and myself that was produced by the GREAT production team of The Royal Singapore which has been uploaded on Facebook as well as on KZbin. I am happy that our story is going viral- every day. Readers made the effort to write their heartfelt feelings. This is one way we can build a far better society. And I have achieved what I set out to do for 10 years - as a staunch mental health advocate - by changing perceptions where people fully understand the struggles caregivers and patients face when we take ‘the road less travelled.’ So that someday, some how, persons with mental illness can gain acceptance in society. Then we can become a truly inclusive society. Most certainly, I want to surround myself with people who can lift me higher. God bless all of you abundantly. You made the DIFFERENCE."' -Raymond Anthony Fernando -

Hope TRS can change the title of this video. Doris was a wife , sister and daughter, much more than an illness. Society needs to realise that people with psychiatric disorders are sufferers themselves and not the disease. The title should be "Living with a spouse who had schizophrenia." God bless Raymond for staying on the narrow road of LIFE. Matthew 7:13-14

Besides being a staunch advocate for the mentally ill and their caregivers, I have also become a kindness advocate. Such efforts require a great deal of hard work and discipline. Discipline of the mind is important for us to be pure in heart, to stay calm and not to harm anyone. Being disciplined means you stay obedient to God, be faithful to our spouse and give unconditional love to our children; and of course, to our parents who gave us life. Have a nice day, folks! Cheers, Raymond Anthony Fernando

Mr Fernando, Doris is fortunate to have you as her husband. You are her guardian angel. I really respect you for not abandoning her this 40 years. I totally understand the life that you have been through. My mother has schizophrenia since I was young. For 20 years she has been with us and when she passed on with another illness, our house suddenly becomes so lonely. I guessed because life suddenly becomes a lot easier for us and we feel a sudden emptiness in our heart. Doris knew that you suffered a lot for her and she loves you and wanted to give back your freedom and happiness that she thinks you deserve it. I wish you to have a blessful life always.

When a family member passed away, there's a sense of desolation at home. The heart is bereft of the family member's presence. As the adverse effects of the illness no longer exist, obviously the family condition becomes less turbulent.

Omg this braught me to tears. My son has Schizophrenia. And those around him love him. He is a wonderful man who takes his meds and embraces this horrible illness. Although he claims it's not to bad. When he is quiet I sit with him, and then bursts of my old son come out. He will never be the same again. We raised a soft beautiful cuddly little boy to manhood. Then this disease took his mind.

My brother in law is schizophrenic for more than 30years and i've realized that the really important thing of this kind of illness is you need to support him, love him, taking care of him because this illness is a lifetime. Right now he's not taking any medication since the last 10years i guess we used to manage him but sometimes there is a relapse but most of the time he is controllable but the auditory hallucination is always there. He always whisper and keep on noding like there is someone talking to him. God bless you sir for not abandoning your wife since her last breath. Your truely a guardian angel to her.

Must be difficult to internalize how easy it would be for the man to break things off with his wife due to her mental condition way before her passing.
