I fully resonate with Lucas in that I also believe in gaging how far I can get myself before bringing someone else into the frame. I get that the gents were advocating for the male perspective, but I'm here to say that there are girls like myself who also know and understand that I shouldn't just expect things, but not give to my significant other. I find it quite crucial to set standards that you are able to meet first for yourself, because failure to that only breeds these unnecessary vile and inconsiderate remarks towards men. Have standards, but be sure they're not something you wouldn't be able to give yourself even in your wildest dreams! Thank you guys!❤

I love how self-aware Matladi is. This guy always know where he stands with anything, positive or not and he never tries to justify his stance. Love it..Great conversations as always. I love it here! One thing; I can't wait for Lucas to actually meet his person. He's such a great guy and every time he speaks, I get excited for when he finally meets that one person who gets him, like fully.

Thing is, before going into a serious romantic relationship, you must establish a friendship with that person. There needs to be a certain level of freedom which will allow you to communicate what it is that you really want. It has helped me a lot.

Starting as friends 🤝🏾 totally agree. My suggestion would be, as tempting as it is to want to impress from the get go, don’t do too much in the beginning and don’t rush into the relationship. Date before making things official: go on “affordable” dates like picnics lol😅, the movies, cook and she brings the wine idk man 😂 get to know each other, know each other’s expectations and what each one is able to bring into a relationship. After that maybe you can ask her to be your girlfriend coz it’s unfair having to bend over backwards to meet expectations that sometimes come with entitlement. Kinda set the foundation for the relationship with as little “assistance” from money as possible. Also just my opinion, hope it makes sense😅

Its Soo sad how relationships have become, it's all about money money money and it takes away the core beauty of the actual thing. When you really are for a person and they are for you everything comes easy and you actually think/feel for them(sympathise). No unnecessary expectations and pressure that will push you outside of your means because you are being you.

I'd like to send a special thanks to Thato and the boys for touching on a very important subject. Being a varsity student and being in a relationship is super stressful (especially when you are a guy). These girls set unrealistic expectations for us, not understand that we (guys) don't have a salary and therefore don't have enough money to cater for all their disires. I don't know if they have dady problems or what but all I know is that their unfair expectations of how much a guy has to spend on them will make them miss out on a lot of wholesome guys out there

Speak on it Kings!! We live in a society(TWITTER CULTURE= INDODA MUST )that defines relationships in such a way it makes us compare and look down on certain things within relationships. It's important to be self aware and acknowledge that there are things you can do and there are things that will bring unnecessary stress. People are scared to say no, especially when you're in a relationship but the same way you've set boundaries in your friendships/family you should be comfortable enough to do so in relationships. Financial literacy is very important in relationships like Lucas said. People need to be considerate and have a level of maturity to have uncomfortable conversations about such topics and understand. Communication goes hand in hand with comprehension.

I've been in a relationship for 9 years and I think talking is really important, that thing yagore 'baby nna i can only take you out every second month, after moo ke felletswe' those conversations are really important. As much as o ma zama go naganela someone else, what you think is happening versus what might actually be happening may be different. This has worked for me in my relationship, batho ga ba tshwane so someone else's situation may be different

I think living within your means has a lot to do with self-awareness and discipline. With self-awareness, it is a matter of acknowledging your financial means or capabilities and being able to make decisions that align with what you currently have while saving or trying to meet other goals. As for discipline, it is being able to say no and having discernment when it comes to money- whether it is with yourself or other people. I, for myself, struggle with these concepts because although I am technically living within my means, I lack the discipline to say no even after I have already used what I planned to, and end up dipping in on what was supposed to be savings. Loved the episode, I think maybe in the future financial literacy could be another great topic!

What a dope conversation gents. Funny story, I was in a long term relationship, partly as a student and then graduated(unemployed 😅). We never really had money issues because we had dates here and there, I was certainly not living below my means though. Broke up and I started a new job months later, also went back to school, now I'm single with some coins, but I weirdly feel like I've only got enough for myself.

The relationship part I fully agree with what Thato said, it’s important to date people that you can afford,or that can afford themselves. Yes people do tend to be unreasonable in relationships however I do think if you have introduced a certain lifestyle and behavior, you can’t just switch it up without communicating. Like valid I’m going to think gore Yoh this and this happened so obviously we have that, but you can’t just now stop doing certain things without communicating. Eg if you’re used to coming back with a KitKat for her every time you go to the store, you can’t go to the store and not bring back a KitKat, unless it’s been communicated that you’re cutting costs. Also attempt to fill that void if not buying that KitKat with something else. Ultimately it boils down to communicating, unspoken expectations lead to disappointment. I hope that makes sense

I liked what Thato said gore when you tell a woman the things that you like, she will get them for you 'coz women are naturally caring and want to make people around them happy. I don't understand how a lot of guys complain gore women sort of always want to be receivers. Tell your woman the things you want and if she really loves you she will get them for you provided gore you also get her the things she wants 'coz some men are scammers these days esp if you're an 'independent woman' they take advantage of that coz they know women can go all out for someone they love.

I agree to the fact that men naturally want to provide for women. And just to add what Thato said, as a woman I love doing things for the person that I really like but many times men act like they don't need women to spend money on them. Its a masculinity thing, whereby some men feel like less of a man in a weird way.

to answer the question for the girls why do I like flowers flowers make me happy you could be having the worst day ever but when you get roses you smile flowers are able to lift up my mood lets say im already happy then best believe ima be ten times happier flowers fuel up my spirit basically having flowers in my room makes me happy but back to the topic of discussion Lucas is so intelligent its always mind blowing this gent explains things in a different perspective ,in ways you never thought of, and Thato is right the minute you agree to give that P5 its gonna be 10 then 100 then a thousand its always best to say No when you cant because people never know when to stop they dont even think gre let me allow her or him to do this for themselves. Personally i feel like living beyond your means in a relo does more harm to the giver more than the reciepient ,its emotionally taxing financially taxig you could imagine a lot you are going to lose to please someone who is not even willing to do half the things you do for them its crazy and i believe Matladis mindset saves him from a lot of things but then again it doesnt allow him to experience being loved by the other party because he barely expects anything from anyone
