Living Big In A Tiny House

Living Big In A Tiny House

Жыл бұрын

The classic cabin in the woods has been wonderfully reimagined into an architectural masterpiece. In this weeks episode we visit an architecturally designed cabin nestled into the forest of the wild West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island.
Owned and designed remotely by Mark Panckhurst, a Hong Kong based architect who grew up in New Zealand, this beautiful modern cabin is designed to connect him to his homeland and create a wonderful space for him, his family, and guests to make new memories. The cabin was created with the help of his brother Andrew who gives us the tour of this spectacular place.
Drawing design inspiration from the old gold miners huts of the West Coast, this is a cabin like no other. From the materials used, to the clever design features, every aspect of this place has been painstakingly thought through. And the result? A wonderfully practical cabin which radiates quality while simultaneously encouraging you so sit back, light the fire, enjoy the panoramic forest views, pick up a book and slow down. Just like a good cabin should.
We hope you enjoy the tour of this amazing remote cabin. This cabin is available to book as a BnB through Canopy Camping: www.canopycamping.co.nz/biv-p...

Thanks for showing us this wee gem snug in the beautiful Punikaiki. I can picture myself here on a stormy day and how snug and cosy it would feel here with the fire going 🔥 🍃 oh and the rain on those wonderful big windows, love the triangles and think the flat aluminum?? Cladding? Not sure what you said it was called.i think it's genius for the no rust an the debre falls straight off. Would love to be able to contact Andrew an ask about the steel engineering side of the build?? As a west coaster myself I have seen many "batches"on the Coast Road over the year's and this by far is my favorite. 😍

@@ClayMationNation but the shape of the roof is designed to let rain fall straight down the troughs of the roof so they dont use guttering, and don’t have to clear out all leaves etc from all the trees also. Plus it’s stunning and holds in the two huge triangle windows as well as providing relaxing space to sleep extras, read etc

Our carpentry class just did a job site tour of a cross laminated timber build apartment building here in Seattle. They said they only had a handful of guys assembling the CLT panels and beams and they'd do a level a day! Their project was also pre-cut and drilled with a CNC machine. Just unbelievably efficient building assembly.

Hello Bryce and Rasa! I believe this is the first tiny home I have every seen with enough room around the commode to sit without hitting something! This bathroom is almost perfect. I can't get in and out of a regular tub, so I would have to change to either a Handicapped Tub Shower Combo or just a Shower with a seat in it. But other than that, I love this bathroom! The whole place would be a great place for us to vacation or visit for the weekend - if the tub/shower deal was changed. The view with all those trees is kinda like where we live now. Kinda. We don't have that many trees surrounding us, but we can look out and see the woods and stuff, but we do have a cleared space for a yard and a garden area. Of course, for us to even visit a place like this or any other, it would have to be in the USA, as I don't travel out of the country. Love watching videos of other countries though. Love you guys! Good job.

@@livingbig That's interesting, I figured it'd be more common. I work as an engineer in the factory and draw the apartments in cad, send the files to a manufacturer who pre-cuts all the pieces and send them back for assembly. We use a traverse to lift everything into place, screw it together and down the line the shell goes. This project looked like a tiny home version of what happens at work, very fun to watch! Love the content from your channel overall, much love from a random dude in Sweden :)

After watching each of your videos as you publish them on KZbin, this is an absolutely stunning architectural gem. My favorite one in the three plus years I have been watching. It has a hardscape design without parallel. The height, the foundation, the windows, the incredible wood inside. Stunning. Then add the black exterior metal, the interior design, the way the kitchen is downplayed as well as the loft bedroom to allow the living area to shine, the choice of colors for each element in just the right proportions -- I do not know where to stop. The location is not my favorite, but architecturally and the interior design are unparalleled. Great job to its creator. A thousand kudos. Yes, simplicity does not come cheaply, and the money involved makes this clear -- but it is very, very well spent. A dream living space.
