Amazing video!! I´m planning as well on going to Canada with mi (soon to be) wife. And after we had a 1:1 session with a migrate officer advisor they told us about this program. You do not only tackle the main requirements but you even pause and explain more profoundly over some terms (such as the NOC). We are both accountants and one of us is going to study while the other works full time with the open permit. Would love to see videos about tips/succesful storires for this profession in British Columbia. cheers!!

8:22 "We don't count any hours you work above 30 hours/week". But how it's then possible to get 1 year of skilled work experience with IEC visa? Most of the countries are allowed only 1 year for IEC, and I think it's impossible to start working the day you land in Canada to get exactly 1 year of work experience in exact 1 year of IEC?

Thanks so much! To apply via the CEC stream you need to have that Canadian work experience. Many people gain that either by getting a "qualifying" job offer directly from a company here, or from work experience after they graduate from their studies in Canada. That's something to consider. But there are other streams, e.g. that I will talk about soon for which Canadian experience is not required.

Great explanation!! I have 2 questions. Right now I'm on a study permit and doing a full time job as well as a new rule introduced to work off campus more than 20 hrs. 1. Does this experience count while I'm studying? 2. My designation is Lead - Technology, does it come under the managerial category?
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada Жыл бұрын
Thank you! 1. As far as I know, work while enrolled as a student doesn't count. But note that there are new regulations for applications submitted on or after Nov 16, 2022 (which I am NOT familiar with). Make sure to check out this link:www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/economic-classes/experience/qualifying-work-experience.html 2. In case NOC applies to your application, then what's important is the description of the roles and responsibilities (not just the title). So you'd need to browse the NOC codes, click on the jobs that match your job the best and then really compare if the detailed responsibilities match. In case they are too far off, then even the designation doesn't matter much. Hope that helps!

It depends on your particular situation. If you're referring to FSW (Federal Skilled Worker program), if you have a lot of points from your foreign work experience (which you can prove), you might have a good chance there. Else, I think immigrating through the CEC is one of the most simple ways. Then again, it depends on how much you score on other things like language and age.

To apply for PR it helps to have 1 year of Canadian work experience, but it's not 100% must. If you can make up the points through your foreign work experience (through FSW-federal skilled worker program) and have an LMIA, that works too. It all depends on the score you have. You can calculate your CRS score online on either the official website or third party and then look at previous EE draws to see how you fair. Thanks! Yes, that's right, in addition to the eligibility requirements, the CRS score and cut-off score each round will ultimately determine who gets an ITA (invitation to apply). Hi. If the CRS Score is just around 280 due to age and work experience because I have been in private practice since 2008, should I continue with SP + PGWP? even if ITA is unlikely. what happens if the PGWP has expired without an ITA? Thank you
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada 2 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, during the pandemic there has been a program to extend PGWP duration, but not sure if you've made use of that already. One option is to go for a second study course. Both I and my husband alternately took Post-graduate certificates lasting 1 year, which are quite affordable. Honestly, it will be very difficult to compete with that score, but probably getting a second education in Canada will raise your score, plus you'll get extra time for work experience which will add points. Understood about the age factor, but you never know! Right now cut-off scores are super high, but depending on government policies, things may change (like last year, where they suddenly upped the intake and the score dropped to 75 in one lucky round). Don't give up, there will be a way. Further, I would suggest to work together with an immigration advisor/lawyer who'd be able to give you better advice and tips. All the best!

You can always apply and see how many points you have. There's not time guarantee, it depends on who else is already in the pool. If you're very high-ranked, you could get an invitation in a few months, if your score is very low, then it could be years.

Hi! I have a question, do I need to have work permit to apply pr? I have LMIA and my work permit applying is on progress online and my open work permit(working holiday) ended so basically I don't have work permit right now but other than, I believe I have all of requirements to apply Pr. Thank you for reading!
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada Жыл бұрын
Nope, having a work permit doesn't have anything to do with a PR application. The PR application is based on you fulfilling all the PR requirements. The only thing that connects to work permit is that if you work in Canada, it has to be legal and on a valid permit, otherwise it could disqualify you for a PR.

Hi, great video! I have 1 question - I started working in Canada from 25th August 2022 and since then I have spent around 2 weeks on paid leave outside Canada and have a plan to spend another 3 weeks on business travel outside Canada next month. But even then I would have 1560 hours done because I work 40 hours per week. So will I be able to show the required 1 year experience for CEC by 25th August 2023 or will I have to wait for additional 5 weeks time till Mid-October equal to what I have spent outside Canada?
@Frank_Amini
@Frank_Amini Жыл бұрын
So only the first 30 hours per week worked count. Anything after that cannot be used to average it out. Safe to wait an additional 5 weeks to avoid a headache. That being said I know people who didn't wait and they had no issue

@@Frank_Amini thanks a lot for your reply. I'm planning to create my profile in early September because I've got inputs from people that IRCC counts 12 months in the 11th month itself (as per the calendar), so by the time I get the ITA and I submit my application it would definitely be mid-october. Hoping for the best :)

Hi. I’ll be scoring an lmia and work permit, when should I be able to apply for PR? Within a few weeks 6 or 12 months? Lastly, the time before PR will be counted in citizenship?
@LivinginCanada
@LivinginCanada 2 жыл бұрын
You can set up an Express Entry Profile anytime, as long as you meet the minimum eligibility criteria (including language skills and other things I mentioned in the video). I am not sure, but I'd say that it's a good idea to wait until the LMIA is in your pocket so you can check that off in your application and get the maximum possible points. Once you reach the cut-off score (CRS score), you will receive an ITA (Invitation to Apply), after which you submit your complete application package. According to CIC (www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/eligibility.html) for citizenship you need to have lived in Canada for 3 years (in the 5 years immediate before citizenship application). Interestingly, also " each day you were physically present in Canada as an authorized temporary resident or protected person before you became a permanent resident counts as half a day (up to a maximum of 365 days". Check out the link above for more details!

Hello Mam, based on the eligibility requirements in CEC, only work experience under temporary resident status is counted. If my husband is working under open work permit because spouse is under student permit. Will his work experience be counted given that he works 1 year, Teer 2.

If you'r asking whether work done on an open work permit is counted, I don't think that's an issue. I would look at the exact requirements for the type of work to be counted.

Thanks for the video. I’ve a pretty specific circumstance I was wondering about. Myself and my common law spouse have been here since April 2022. We both have very good jobs and are approaching 12 months Canadian work experience. We have plenty of funds and have built up good credit scores. We need to assess our NOC codes but I’ll most likely be 0. I’m a commercial director in the food industry, but I haven’t been able to identify the exact code. My issue and question is - I don’t have any college education. I’ve got over 16 years commercial experience prior to arriving here and soon to have 12 months here. How should we go about applying for PR. Can my spouse apply and sponsor me, or is my Canadian work experience plus CELPIP scores (yet to take, but as a native English speaker I’d hope to do well) be enough? It’s very difficult to find a clear answer on this, so I’d appreciate any help. Thanks

Hello, i have a question about Job Experience letters for the foreign job experience. Should the letters be very recent like 3-6 months from the time you got you ETA or can it be from few years back? It's very difficult to get such a job from outside of the country. Usually companies will sponsor you if you have a very unique skill that cannot be sourced from inside the company. Perhaps, you can look for a remote position that requires specific language skills that you're fluent in (but that work experience would not count towards CEC). Perhaps you could consider applying through the Federal Skilled Workers program? I also made a video on that, so check that out!
