Bellville should not have been allowed to deteriorate the way it did. Too much effort was put into the Cape Town city centre and very little into Bellville as a secondary city

Well, I think we could have seen both. Like Century City and Claremont CBD developed in parallel with the Cape Town CBD. When you look at the precinct of Bellville, much of what is described in this video WAS in fact done, but by the standards of the 1960s and 1970s. The transport hub is there, the pedestrianised streets are there, the learning and arts section is there, and the park and green space are there. Just not by today's standards. You are right, though, about the deterioration. The Bellville CBD was once clean, vibrant and efficient. But as things turned dirty and unsafe, hotels closed, major retailers moved out, etc. The University of the Western Cape purchased some of the vacant buildings and transformed them into student living, which was a very bold and commendable step. The vision of this video will not be realised in my lifetime, but it is good to see that there is some forward thinking.

This plan is weird. The civic square site that’s there is currently part of the mall. Are they going to demolish the mall? They should include the other side of Voortrekker as part of the rejuvenation plan and also both side of Durban road towards the N1

Please do a video or visit the New Harbour Arch in Cape Town aswell as the new Cape Town train station to be completed early next year 2023
